Alix Posted August 17, 2020 Share Posted August 17, 2020 Hi everyone just a quick question playing fortnite on my xbox and my ping in game is about 27ms on the the netduma it says 13ms. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 17, 2020 Administrators Share Posted August 17, 2020 Good question, the ping from the router is the direct ping to the server/closest hop to the server. The in game ping includes things like processing delay, not all games choose to include it but when they do it shows higher than you would expect. Every game has it and there is no way for us to measure it. The ping direct to the server is what you can control/influence so that's what to focus on. Of course if there is a huge discrepancy then that would indicate that server is under very heavy load and would be best to force another. Which value is right the duma os or the xbox. 😊 They are both right, the 20ms is the one you can influence so best to focus on that unless the difference is massive in which case would recommend you try forcing a different server.
