doylebl39 Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 Hey Guys wondering if anyone can help me. Since installing the XR500 I get really slow download speeds...This never happened to me with the R1. I have disabled QOS and put the sliders up to full. any suggestions ?
doylebl39 Posted July 2, 2020 Author Posted July 2, 2020 My router is connect to the home hub 3000 under dmz and my internet provider is Bell
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 2, 2020 Administrators Posted July 2, 2020 What are the speeds you pay for/expect? Have you entered those into the Bandwidth Settings in the Anti-Bufferbloat menu? Is that also where you disabled QoS? Are any devices still connected to your home hub?
doylebl39 Posted July 2, 2020 Author Posted July 2, 2020 my speeds are supposed to be 1.5 gigs down and 1up. I entered in the max speed for both upload and download. the tv boxes are connected to the home hub still. thanks for the help
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 2, 2020 Administrators Posted July 2, 2020 What speeds are you actually getting through the router now? Sometimes it can take a little while for it to sync with the ISP, if you have an old router you used then you can bypass this by getting the old router MAC address and setting it as the XR500 MAC address.
doylebl39 Posted July 2, 2020 Author Posted July 2, 2020 right now I'm getting 200 down and 30 up. the home hub 3000 is the latest one bell offers.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 2, 2020 Administrators Posted July 2, 2020 This is using a wired speed test connected to the XR? Where are you testing the speeds? So you just used the bell before this, not another router?
doylebl39 Posted July 2, 2020 Author Posted July 2, 2020 Yes I just used the bell modem before. I used 3 or 4 different speeds tests. like fast.com, Ookla and speedtest.net.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 2, 2020 Administrators Posted July 2, 2020 Please go to Settings and start the setup wizard, only go as far as the speed test, what speed does it say you get there?
doylebl39 Posted July 2, 2020 Author Posted July 2, 2020 its showing only 550 down and 940 up which doesn't make sense to me at all. my down should be higher...its 1.5 gigs
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 2, 2020 Administrators Posted July 2, 2020 You won't get 1.5 as it only supports 1gbps but it does seem to be limited. Do you have a spare router you could use between the bell and XR and then test through the XR?
doylebl39 Posted July 2, 2020 Author Posted July 2, 2020 just tried it and almost identical results to the 550 down and 900 up
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 2, 2020 Administrators Posted July 2, 2020 That's really odd, is it possible to put the bell hub in bridge or modem mode and then try direct to the XR?
doylebl39 Posted July 2, 2020 Author Posted July 2, 2020 That would be amazing ..I'm not a fan of the homehub 3000 but where i have their TV service I'm stuck with it. I doesn't have bridge or modem mode Not sure what my options are? so i tested my speed through the bell webiste and it says my speeds are fine but when i use the speed test from netduma im getting the slow speeds. It doesn't make any sense to me.
doylebl39 Posted July 3, 2020 Author Posted July 3, 2020 When I use the Bell to do a speed test it's now showing the right speeds but the internet test on the duma itself is still showing the wrong speeds..
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 3, 2020 Administrators Posted July 3, 2020 Are you still using the WiFi on the bell as that could pull bandwidth away from the XR. Also for DMZ did you use the XR WAN IP found in System Information and not the IP used to access the interface?
doylebl39 Posted July 3, 2020 Author Posted July 3, 2020 I'll shut off the wifi on the bell modem and for dmz I'm using the mac address of the XR
doylebl39 Posted July 3, 2020 Author Posted July 3, 2020 haven't been home all day...I'll try tomorrow
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 4, 2020 Administrators Posted July 4, 2020 Okay good, I assume the XR is also the only device connected to it via ethernet as well?
doylebl39 Posted July 4, 2020 Author Posted July 4, 2020 Yes. Now Nothing else is connected by cat5 or wifi
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 4, 2020 Administrators Posted July 4, 2020 Do you get better speeds now through the XR?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 4, 2020 Administrators Posted July 4, 2020 On the bell could you try port forwarding 1-65535 TCP/UDP to the XR please and see if that makes a difference?
