Jayco93 Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 I have a Verizon Fios Router (ISP). If I connect a LAN port from the ISP router to the WAN on the Nighthawk XR500, will the Geo Filter still work for Xbox if it’s connected to the XR50s SSID or hardwired via Ethernet? Or will I need to hook the XR50 up as the primary router and piggy back my ISP off it in reverse to get the geo filter to work?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 23, 2020 Administrators Posted June 23, 2020 Yes that's exactly how you should set the two up together.
Jayco93 Posted June 23, 2020 Author Posted June 23, 2020 Just now, Netduma Fraser said: Yes that's exactly how you should set the two up together. Which way? ISP as main? Or XR500 as main?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 23, 2020 Administrators Posted June 23, 2020 ISP router > XR500 > Console I would recommend you enable modem or bridge mode on the ISP router if possible. Otherwise put the WAN IP of the XR (found in System Information) into the DMZ on the ISP hub and disable the hub WiFi and connect ALL devices to the XR. This will ensure you don't encounter NAT issues and that the XR can control all devices properly.

What exactly does the DMZ do?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 23, 2020 Administrators Posted June 23, 2020 As the XR has it's own built in firewall it is safe to do so. It forwards all incoming packets straight to the XR router.
Jayco93 Posted June 23, 2020 Author Posted June 23, 2020 I am trying to connect the XR500 from the LAN to WAN and it says no internet connection.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 23, 2020 Administrators Posted June 23, 2020 ISP router LAN port to XR500 WAN port is that what you need to do, is that what you've done?
