ANUB1S
Hello, i have a problem with my nighthawk network. I have a XR500 router and a X6 EX7700 as rangeextender. My Devicemanager is constantly showing unknown devices and some devices are shown as offline when online. In the past there were WiFi devices shown as LAN Connections. this Problem i solved by downgrading the Firmware to XR500V2.3.2.32 but that cant be the final solution the solve that Problem. Newfie
You really need to be on .56 the latest software as you are open to security issues using that old firmware. are you running this as an AP or extender? when I used my 500 with a pair of ex8000 in extender mode I could see the devices but any device behind the extender was not controlled via the QoS properly so it’s best to have devices needing this connected solely to the router. Ok so i'll upgrade my Firmware again. At the moment my XR500 is in router mode and my EX7700 is AP (WiFi Connection to the XR500) only with synchronous config with the XR500 (Screenshot 2 and 3). My XR500 ist connected to the ISPs Router/Modem wich is at the Moment no configured in bridgemode because of performanceproblems iam trying to resolve with my ISP. In my XR500 devicemanager my phone (IP ends with 17) is shown correctly, in my EX7700 it is shown as unknown (Screenshot 1) and, as example my Workstation is shown correctly (IP ends with 22, hardwired to the EX7700) but shown as offline my XR500. I hope that helps
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 23, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 23, 2020 Hey, welcome to the forum! If you're having specific issues with the extender then you'll need to contact Netgear directly as it's not our software so we're not ideal to know exactly how it's working. As the devices aren't directly connected to the router it can be hard to determine how a device is connected/in some circumstances what it is named. I think if you were to put it in extender mode it may work a bit better. However, just rename the device on the device manager and it will keep the name. e38BimmerFN
Try the EX in extender mode. My two EX7700s work well in extender mode with my XR450.

I was afraid you will say something like this. Sad that Netgear sells 2 Nighthawk products with different OS. I guess i will try the AP (unlike i told in my OP) Mode as soon i have an idea how to hide that Cable from the XR500 to the EX7700 9 hours ago, e38BimmerFN said: Try the EX in extender mode. Anyways thank you both.
ANUB1S
Ok i upgraded the Firmware of my XR500 and disconnected my EX7700 completely to sort my devices (In LAN and WLAN). I also did a factory reset to my XR500 after the Firmware upgrade to start with a fresh config. I set up a DHCP range from IP x.x.x.10 to IP x.x.x.100 the first devices are setup with address reservation from x.x.x.10 counting up (SS1). In my devicemanager i already sorted some devices until i realised that my wired TV is not shown (but it already has an address reservation)(SS2). Also all of my actual connected WiFi devices are shown as offline. At the moment 3 phones and a laptop should be shown online. What the Hell is going on? ANUB1S
Never mind, a simple reboot solved the problem 🙄 Toppic can be closed
e38BimmerFN
Reason for two difference OS is that the EX are meant to connect to other wifi routers, not just XR, other NG routers and non Mfr Routers. They are not designed to be just one router specific. The XR OS is specific to the XR router series only. Enjoy,
