!TIMMY!
I have been reading through many threads on the forums and came across this one: Where he found a similar setting for anti-bufferbloat like I have, being very low compared to the recommended around 70%. I am using my Billion 8800AXL which is a modem&router, as a modem only in bridge mode; then the XR300 in PPPoE with the login details for my ISP. Is it best to keep it like this or use the Billion 8800AXL to connect to the internet PPPoE, and enter the Billion 8800AXL IP address in the 'Default DMZ Server' settings in the XR300? (and change the 'Does your Internet connection require a login?' to 'No').
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 14, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 14, 2020 I would suggest having the Billion handle PPPoE then you would put the XR300 WAN IP found in System Information into the DMZ section on the Billion. Then yes you'd remove the PPPoE details from the XR300.

Just so I am understanding it correctly, I put the WAN IP in the Billion DMZ so that means the Billion just accepts all connections (and provides no protection), but I leave the DMZ setting on the XR300 disabled so the XR300 provides the firewall etc? Do I want both the Billion and XR300 on the same IP range i.e. 192.168.1.XXX? Currently I have the Billion on 192.168.2.XXX and the XR300 on 192.168.1.XXX. Finally, which should be the DHCP Server? Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 15, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 15, 2020 That's right, the WAN IP from the XR300 System Information page, put that into the Billion DMZ. Then the Billion will forward all traffic to the XR300 which has its own firewall so you'll still be secure. Leave the DMZ on the XR300 default i.e. not being used. No do not put them on the same range, there is no real benefit to doing this and it wouldn't work anyway. You can leave DHCP enabled on both. !TIMMY!
I've done it and the internet is back working. I will do some testing soon and see if it's any better.
