My ISP renew our IPs 2 times a day, at noon and at midnight. Sometimes, when that IP renew process happens, the XR 500 enters into a loop getting a new IP every few seconds and the only way I have found to fix it is rebooting it. As soon as it is rebooted, it works. This doesn't happens every time my ISP renew my IP, the issue happens only a few times a week or a month. It seems to be completely random. I know of this loop because in the logs I can see something like this: [Internet connected] IP address: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX, Saturday, April 04, 2020 13:21:51 [Internet disconnected] Saturday, April 04, 2020 13:21:42 but repeated a lot of times and every a few seconds. During this loop, I have no internet. My setup is the following: 1 modem/router provided by ISP (it is on bridge mode) and the XR 500 is my main and only router connected to the internet through PPPoE. I am really positive that this issue may be solved by the new DumaOS 3.0, but anyways I wanted to post it here to see if someone has a fix for this. In the Internet Setup page switch it from using dynamic to static and that should in theory prevent that from happening. Do a reboot after you've applied that and then keep us posted! I think I can't use static IP for WAN, per my understanding I am forced by my ISP to use dynamic IP. Anyways I just tested what you suggested and as soon as I choose static IP I lose connection and never re-connects. I hope there is something else we can try. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 5, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 5, 2020 The IP you're referring to that the ISP renews often is your public IP which is different from the IPs on the local network - i.e. the IP your ISP hub gives the router. On the ISP hub disable bridge mode, then give the XR a static IP. Then on the XR change it to static as I said before and reboot, if you don't reboot it may not sustain the connection properly. Then you can enable bridge mode again, if no connection then reboot the XR again. If that's still not working then do everything I said before except instead of using bridge mode use the DMZ instead and put the XR WAN IP in that instead (can be found in System Information). Then disable the WiFi on the ISP hub to ensure all devices connect to the XR and can be controlled by it. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Sadly, I can't change the ISP modem to router mode by myself, I have to call them to do it for me since I don't have admin access. I would prefer a solution that still allows me to use that ISP modem in bridge mode. This morning when I woke up, the XR500 was in loop trying to connect and I discovered another way to fix that loop without rebooting , if I go to Internet Setup and just click the "Test" button, the loop is stopped and I have connection again. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 5, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 5, 2020 If you do a factory reset and go through the Setup Wizard again does it sustain the connection? If it doesn't then the only other things I could think of is that the ethernet cable connecting the router to the modem is faulty and so replacing that may fix it or the router has a hardware fault.
