Minecraft Traffic Prioritization

Recommended Posts

So the auto detect doesn't come on for Minecraft.  I am hosting a server, and four others on this router connect as well.  I set the ports for the server, which then disallowed those ports for any other devices, and doesn't show activity.  Is there a reason for this?

Hey, welcome to the forum!

How did you setup the port rules? Did you change the source ports? If so change those back to 1-65535 for each rule and then see if it works properly. Otherwise add your PC with the console service instead and it will prioritize.

So setting the ports as suggested does show it prioritizing, but isn't this saying that everything across those ports gets priority as opposed to the specific game port I am targeting?  And also, what if I want that specific traffic prioritized on more than one device?  I get an error if I try to add it, saying "Unable to install because streams overlap".

That is what you said, I just didn't read carefully enough.  So, I went ahead and changed the source back and set the destination for the MC ones and it no longer detects the activity, and the same error occurs if I try to add that port information for more than one machine.
