ISP Routing and R1

Hello

I have been having lots of problems with FIFA 20 (as most people do) and EA claim its the ISP routing of the data based on a trace we performed. Talk Talk are now saying to change my router but to my knowledge the router has no impact on the number of Hops the data takes thats Talk Talk isnt it?

Example below with my IP address blanked, what I dont also understand is the R1 shows Ping as about 17ms but that cant be real surely if the data is taking this amount of hops to a server in Germany or somewhere not in UK?

DumaOS.lan X.X.X.X  2ms
ae50-ner002.loh.as13285.net 78.144.1.23 2 8ms

Talktalk probably want you to use their router because they don't know how to troubleshoot ours. It might also be a cop-out answer, it's easier to blame your router than to investigate their own network.

Honestly though I don't see how any router could affect the route your data takes. A router only has control over your local network, not the outside world. ISPs have much more control over routing.

Thats one thing I dont understand DumaOS says I have 15ms connection to server but if it takes all these hops how can it be 15ms?

I am in UK and server is in Germany

Well I believe that the time listed next to each hop is a running total, so you can see how long it took to reach each point on the path.

And packets do go from server to server at a very fast rate, it's quite mindblowing when you think about all of the data flying around the world at lightspeed.

But it's possible that I have a very easily blown mind.
