nypd
So I having very annoying issues with my XR700 and Centurylink gigabit internet. Basically to use the XR700 on Centurylink fiber, I have to do the following steps: 1. Switch the Internet Setup to require a login connection (Use PPPoe) https://i.imgur.com/YQNtG7u.png 2. Enter PPPoe credentials, switch it to always on, leave everything as automatic 3. Turn on VLAN/Bridge settings, select by VLAN tag group, and change the VLAN ID to 201: https://i.imgur.com/7c4vOwg.png 3a. (Century link needs all traffic to the ONT to be prefixed with 201) So after I set up all these settings, I am connected to the internet successfully. However, I keep getting disconnected for about 2-5 seconds then it reconnects again. this makes it real annoying browsing the web, talking on discord, gaming, etc. I confirmed this by running a simple ping test: https://i.imgur.com/igen9gZ.png As you can see it pings to google.com fine for a bit, then it poops out, then it works fine for a bit, etc. Is there anything I can besides just return the router? I tried both 1.0.1.20 firmware and the original factory firmware.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 12, 2020 Administrators Share Posted January 12, 2020 Hey, welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear you're having this issue, is this present on ALL devices or just wired/wireless devices? Could you look in System Information at the log file for any entries that are there when the issue occurs and provide a screenshot please?

nypd
The screenshot above is currently firmware: v1.0.0.20 Same issue happened with the newer firmware, but i'm not sure if the logs would change. I forgot to mention all my wired and wireless devices experience this.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 12, 2020 Administrators Share Posted January 12, 2020 Thanks for that, nothing in the logs to indicate an issue, it's just reporting the disconnects. Could you replace the cable connecting the router to your modem please and see if that fixes it?

Could you replace the cable connecting the router to your modem please and see if that fixes it? Tried a different cable and nothing. I'm using the same cable I connected the xr700 with to the Zyxcel C3000Z router and its working normally. So you think this is an issue with Centurylink and not the DumaOs? Maybe a deffective XR700? Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 14, 2020 Administrators Share Posted January 14, 2020 It could be the Zyxcel, has that got logs you can check to see if it's disconnecting the XR router?

Sorry that was worded weird. The XR700 is connected directly to the modem/ONT via the WAN port. The same cable I used on the XR700 I used on the other router, Zyxcel, and that works fine. I am currently using the Zycel which is connected directly to the ONT through its WAN port as well. I'm going to try updating the firmware on the XR700 again to see if I can get it to work, if not I think it might be some hardware issue and I'll try exchanging it. Looks like I am the only one with this error/ I tried googling and didn't find anyone else with my issue. I'll try getting better logs.

nypd
OMG. It was IPV6. Apparently that was turned on and I believe DumaOS was trying to connect to IPV6 every so often, which cause the entire router to disconnect, try to connect to IPV6, fail, and the connect back to IPV4. I turned off IPV6 and not everything is rock steady. I would recommend the logs capture what IPV number it is trying to connect to rather than just say "Connecting" and "Disconnecting". Might help a dummy like me in the future when their router keeps connecting and disconcerting.
