So I having very annoying issues with my XR700 and Centurylink gigabit internet. Basically to use the XR700 on Centurylink fiber, I have to do the following steps: 1. Switch the Internet Setup to require a login connection (Use PPPoe) https://i.imgur.com/YQNtG7u.png 2. Enter PPPoe credentials, switch it to always on, leave everything as automatic 3. Turn on VLAN/Bridge settings, select by VLAN tag group, and change the VLAN ID to 201: https://i.imgur.com/7c4vOwg.png 3a. (Century link needs all traffic to the ONT to be prefixed with 201) So after I set up all these settings, I am connected to the internet successfully. However, I keep getting disconnected for about 2-5 seconds then it reconnects again. this makes it real annoying browsing the web, talking on discord, gaming, etc. I confirmed this by running a simple ping test: https://i.imgur.com/igen9gZ.png As you can see it pings to google.com fine for a bit, then it poops out, then it works fine for a bit, etc. Is there anything I can besides just return the router? I tried both 126.96.36.199 firmware and the original factory firmware.
Is it possible to isolate one particular system from all LAN traffic, but still allow it to remain on the internet? I have a few days which I'm allowed to work from home each week, but I've noticed that on my home network, the computer is excruciatingly slow. While I am using a VPN, that can't be it because I have to use the same VPN at the office (connecting to a client network). I suspect that it may be traffic from one of my IoT devices. My firewall on my personal computer records a lot of blocked packets related to a few of those devices. My work laptop is wired directly to the router.
Hi, I recently got Fibre to the home in Ireland. I have been told that as there is an ONT with ethernet installed, I can connect the router to that without the need for a modem. However I have been told that I need to vlan tagging and that the router must have vlan to wan. I know that the nighthawk XR500 has vlan tagging but does it support vlan to wan? My friend is with the same ISP and is currently using a Netgear D7000. It seems from online posts that this router has vlan tagging but not vlan to wan but still works perfectly fine with the ONT. Does the xr500 have the same vlan mapping capabilities as the d7000? I will link below a short guide on how to use a router with my ont so you can check to make sure that the xr500 is capable of this. Thanks http://finbarrbrady.com/2017-07-13-replace-eir-f2000/
Hello partners. I need a little bit of your help. As you already know about other issues, I had been trying for some time to configure my ISP router in bridge mode and I could not do it, since the ISP had the router plugged in so that it could not be obtained. After a while and many customers presenting complaints, we have finally managed to access it and use the router that we want, the only thing to do is put it in ONT or bridge mode and then place the VLAN in the device that is I want the ip, in this case the Duma. My problem now is that when I put the Vlan in the Duma, it does not get IP. I tried to do it by plugging the PC directly and putting the Vlan on the PC and if I get the public address without problem, but the Duma does not, for more than tried and restarted does not give it to me. Do any of you use the Vlan option? Does it work properly? I do not know if some guy from Netduma could check if it works or fails that option, but if so, I would be very grateful if they helped me. greetings to all
