Redline
Hey all, Owner of a brand new XR500 here. Unfortunately upon testing with some gaming tonight, my XR500 (on the latest available firmware) appears to be exhibiting the dreaded "internet drops out for 5 seconds then comes back" issue. I've attached a log from the router in case anyone knows what might be causing it. Client is a W10 desktop wired to a dumb-switch which the XR500 goes through to talk to other devices. I'd prefer not to have to put a smart switch in as a replacement. Does anyone have any ideas? My partner also works from home via a VPN and requires a constant connection, so if I'm unable to fix this then it'll mean, sadly, I have to return the XR500. Thank you in advance. log.txt
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 26, 2019 Administrators Share Posted December 26, 2019 Hey, welcome to the forum and Happy Holidays! Sorry to hear you're having this issue. Does it happen on all devices or just specific ones? Does it happen on WiFi or wired or both devices? Disable IPv6 and see if that helps as well. I can confirm it happens on any device on the network, wired or WiFi. I have just now disabled IPv6 and rebooted the router to see how it goes. I should note that, atdditionally, I got more of these lines in the router log. It seems like it may have something to do with how the router handles the ARP routing tables that's causing the issue for myself and other people? The internet only appears to have 'dropped' every 30 minutes when my router renews its DHCP lease from my ISP, so I don't believe that's the problem either. Redline
Hi Fraser, Just to elaborate further, I initially tested by completely disabling QoS -- that didn't fix anything. I then disabled IPv6 as directed above, and this has completely fixed the issue. It would seem that the errors in the above log are correct, and that there's an underlying issue with how the router is handling the ARP routes when IPv6 is in use. Furthermore, those lines don't appear in the log anymore at all. I assume this means it has to go to you guys for fixing. Do let me know if I can do anything else to help. I'll pass this on to the developers to have a look at and if needed they can contact you if they need some help.
