Failed to Communicate with Router (With a twist)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

So I just installed my netduma router today and everything has been going great, other than the vpn feature. I've gotten it to work with hma about two times (so it does work!), but the only problem is... that everytime I connect to a new vpn server, the vpn fails to communicate with the router and I have to start the process all over again by disconnecting my router and modem (followed by inputting my default settings for the other features).

The other problem is, that since I live in Los Angeles, there are a lot of inactive servers, and it's hard for a noob like me to pin point which ones are active vs. inactive. So basically... I have to get extremely lucky if I want to connect to a server, because if it tries connecting to an inactive one, it'll lose connection with the router... and once again, I have to unplug my router and modem.

Another problem I get is that if it tries to establish a connection, it'll keep trying to re-establish the connection until I put an end to it (which I have yet to figure out how).

As seen below:

Also, just to get it out of the way

1) I've disabled my firewall, anti virus, etc.

2) I've followed this guide  to help optimize my connection at home http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=setup_gt_120

3) Hidemyass software is closed while on the netduma Interface

Can someone please help me?

Would greatly appreciate it!

Hey welcome to the forum! I feel like the main problem here is hma itself, as you said they seem to have lots of inactive servers and its impossible to tell unless you try to connect to it which is inactive. The ones that do work are not the best. I would personally try a different VPN service which you can use on our router if you get the config file from them and put it into the advanced section of our VPN feature.

I'm not sure if they would provide it for a free trial or not but I don't see why the wouldn't. If you log in to their site there should be somewhere to download the config file. If not contact them and they should be able to send it to you quite easily. Once you have it you can then follow this guide to get it setup for the advanced section of our VPN feature http://forum.netduma.com/topic/84-why-cant-i-connect-to-a-vpn-using-the-advanced-tab/

Hi there!

Well I do have a free trial of vypervpn, but I'm unsure of how the advanced settings work and how to get the config file. What steps would I need to go through to try to get a config file from my Vpn provider?

Thanks!

Viper VPN config files can be downloaded here :)

Fantastic! We believe its an MTU issue which is in our ticket system and should be fixed in our next huge update. Unless you're using massive amounts of bandwidth it will be enough to game on etc :)

Its quite a big one so we're not rushing it but hopefully soon! You're very welcome! As this is solved now I'll close the thread but any more issues feel free to make a new post. You should also make a post in introductions so we can all welcome you properly :) - Fraser
