Why is it such a pain to add people

It’s such a hassle to add people especially cross platform. It’s always the same run around of do this and do that. 
 

i feel I was better off with the latest nighthawk or ASUS router.

What do you mean "add people", are you talking about cross platform play in Modern Warfare?

I consistently have to do a routine when it comes to having a party and inviting people outside of my radius. Then after doing so, it takes forever it seems to find a lobby. Then when I just ignore everything suddenly it becomes easy to find a lobby

Correct me if i'm wrong but shouldn't the XR500 exclude party chats from the geo-filter?

Yes in theory it should.

In the most recent PS4 System Software update, they changed all of the servers that are used for party chat. We're still working to get Geo-Filter working correctly with this new update.

If party chat is routed entirely through these servers, then it will be possible to permanently allow party chat through Geo-Filter.

If however, peer connections are used (connections straight to the people you're chatting to), then it will prove much more difficult to detect if that traffic is party related or gameplay related.
