Cannot access MR1100 & XR500 IP's at the same time

Recommended Posts

Please bear with me as I don't really know how to explain this but I'll try my best.  My netgear mr1100 and the xr500 shared the same IP address so I changed the xr500.  I figured that was easy enough so I opened another tab and typed in the IP of the MR1100.  It wouldn't connect as if I didn't have internet access but I was streaming video at the same time so I knew that wasn't the case.  So I closed down the browser and opened it again.  This time I typed in the IP of the MR1100 first.  Went right to it.  So then I opened another tab and typed in the XR500 IP and the same thing happened.  I couldn't open dumaos as if I had no internet connection but again, I was streaming netflix on a tv behind me so everything was operational.  I tried this 4 or 5 more times and every time it happened.  It would only open one of the IP's at a time.  I also tried to open on on chrome and the other on internet explorer.  Same issue.

Setup

How did you change the IP of the router? What is the IP of the MR & the XR that you've set?

No I left the MR with it's factory IP and changed the XR500 from the LAN settings (at least I think that's where it was).

What's very strange is if I plug a laptop into the XR500 I can access one from the laptop and one from the desktop at the same time.  Just can't do so on the same computer at the same time.

yep.  I just tried that and then checked this post.  If I use chrome for the MR1100 using the IP and then internet explorer for the XR500 using routerlogin.net it works. Thanks

On a different subject, I have a static IP from my ISP.  Should I run with the standard settings on the XR500 or should I be changing anything to optimize performance?
