Share Access and Geo Filter Mode not workring

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Facing a small problem over here with "Share Access" and the "Geo Filter".

wether share access is ticked or unticked my Xbox gets ALOT more that is should get although only 3 MB of download and 2 MB of upload is set to it. I tried ticking and unticking it a few times with no luck. Please not it is connected "Wierd" to the router.

Now Regarding the Geo Fliter, I name good and bad hosts and it still allows hosts outside my geofilter range which are "unnamed" which means I have not played with them before. My Geo Filter has "Strict Mode" ON and it still does that.

Last question, any news when the new updated will be released?

keep geo filter off while console is booting. load game and go into multiplayer and if for example it is cod you are playing then select either cor or hardcore and before you click tdm, kc, dom etc turn on the geo filter then click your selection.

when you untick share excess do you click update? If you do not then it will not apply. Also if share excess is enabled any limitations such as 2mb up and down that you set will be void as it will receive surplus bandwidth that is not being used by other devices.

Nope, that with the Geo filter didnt work. I have it on spain, the whole country yet again I never get connected to anything or anyone is spain although there is a dedicated server there too for COD ww2 still get connected to Pakistan and india with 240ms !!

Share access worked after 3 or 4 "apply" and a few restarts.

Hi Blur,

Let's start with the Geo-Filter issue. Those servers with the white rings around them are matchmaking servers. They have to always be allowed through otherwise you wouldn't be able to access online multiplayer at all.

When you actually play a game, they won't be selected as the host (they're not used for that). So could you take a screenshot of your Geo-Filter when you're actually in a game. there should just be a server within side of your range. I would also recommend expanding your range to cover France. You have it very small which will probably make finding games slower for you.

As for Share Excess - can I just confirm you have done this:

1. Disabled Share Excess on BOTH upload and download. You need to do it once on each.

2. Clicked 'Update' (or Save) after allocating the percentages. It will not remember them unless you save your changes

3. Set your correct bandwidth in Anti-Bufferbloat's advanced option

Finally - I would really recommend keeping share excess ON unless there's a really good reason not to. It will limit the bandwidth of every device on your network which is not ideal.

Hello and thank you for your reply,

Regarding the Goe Filter, both the previous picture and the one I attached to this post are while playing. Sometimes it connects me to hosts outside the circle (the biggest icon of players is the host) from saudi arabia and UAE. strict mode is always on so i am pretty sure something is wrong with the geo filter. also sometimes it doesnt pig the host and freezes loading until the game is over then the game crashes when it does that.

Regarding the Share excess, it's working fine now as i mentioned above after a few restarts and messing around. I do have bantdwidth specified to each device at home and that is to avoid "Lag Compensation" on my xbox. I am hoping in the future as i suggested before to be able to limit 1 or 2 devices on the network and share excess on all other home devices. correct me if I am wrong with the lag comp.

Thank you and I hope the bugs would be fixed by the next update.

If you see a triangle on your map then that’s a connection that has been BLOCKED. So in your image, the Saudi connection has been prevented from hosting your game thanks to the Geo-Filter. The rectangle inside your radius is the server that’s hosting your game. If you have auto ping enabled it will automatically ping this connection.

ok, so if triangle is the BLOCKED connection. what is BIG triangle and small triangle and BIH head and small head ? on my R1 the BIG one was always the host !!

You’re playing CoD right? If so, when you first search for a game it’s normal for auto ping host to ping a blocked connection(shown by a triangle). Once you’re actually in a lobby the filter will have forced a local server and it should now start picking nging that instead. The server is usually shown as a rectangle on your map.

If you are getting 200ms ping during a game, could you record your geo-filter for a minute or so. You can use free recording software like obs to do this. Then upload the clip to Dropbox and link us to it and we can take a look.

Thanks for posting. In the video your distance range is not blocking the host, so everything looks normal. I would recommend a smaller distance range, ideally about 1000km. This will get you a closer host and a better connection.

nope, that doesnt happen, i tested alot but because of where i live (Egypt) i am far away from dedicated servers and good hosts. for some reason host in Spain and France give me a much better ping and connection stability that Israel and other countries nearby. Thats why i was asking on other posts about ping assist and VPNs as this is my only way for a stable good connection. also my country is applying Deep packet inspection to control the internet which as you know causes connection problems, when i used the VPN on the R1 , all these problems disappeared and I always has a good connection.

Thanx for looking into my problem. looking forward for the next update. I hope the VPN is like the R1 where i can use ExpressVPN and wont be stuck with Hidemyass.

cheers
