Durty
Two nights in a row my router has just randomly reset. This is infuriating. Both times it shut off, I was trying to get the game winning kill in fortnite. Why does a 300 dollar "gaming" router shut off on its own in the middle of a game? Pretty hard to play a game if the router randomly shuts off. Please fix this. If this happens again, I'm returning it.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 4, 2018 Administrators Share Posted June 4, 2018 Do you mean it factory reset itself or rebooted? How do you know it wasn't just your console/PC disconnecting? Are you using PPPoE?
Durty
I do not use PPPoE. The router reset. The internet completely shut off. My settings in my QoS and GeoFilter were all changed. Was there an update?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 4, 2018 Administrators Share Posted June 4, 2018 Ahh that makes more sense, yes their was a firmware update and as you had auto firmware upgrade on it would have done it automatically. It does it during the middle of the night to reduce inconvinience of doing it during the day/evening
Durty
Okay. Makes sense. Hopefully, the instance 2 nights ago was just a fluke.
neo2070
Did your XR500 retain your settings or did you have to re-enter your settings when it updated to the new FW and rebooted?
Durty
Had to re-enter some things.
xlr8r
mine is set to auto-update since day 1, it has NEVER updated itself. I have always had to do it manually ?

Auto upgrades are phased over time - if there is a massive issue with the firmware then that prevents every router getting the issue as can pull the firmware.
