Hey, welcome to the forum!

We hope you enjoy using the router!

In terms of Settings I would recommend the following:

QoS

Set Anti-Bufferbloat to 'Always' and set the download & upload sliders to 70% each.

Bandwidth Allocation, you could give your console a higher percentage but this is optional.

Ensure DumaOS Classified Games is enabled

Geo-Filter

Select console and Filtering mode in the Devices panel

On the Geo-Filter Map I would recommend selecting the FIFA profile when playing UFC and then for Rocket League use the Unreal Engine profile as the Geo-Filter isn't needed for it.

Ping is always a factor regardless of what you're connecting to. So by using the Settings I've given you will ensure the best connection possible, even when not gaming.

WiFi by default automatically selects channels based on interference so no need to change those options.

If you have any other questions do let us know!

thank you

so would i use the geo filter everytime i got onto diffrent games, i was playing cod lastnight  and linked up with

a peer that had me registering at 19-22 ping,

Yeah I would definitely use the profiles button to load the Geo-Filter for your particular game. It works very well with CoD so no surprise you got a great ping!

another noob question..

my geo filter only links me up to one

dedicated server, my ms/ping is 77-82

is there anyway to find a closer location

to get a decent ping,

im on ufc3 now, i selected  fifa preset

and my geo filter wasnt  picking anything

up. ive seen videos on youtube where

triangles and little people will pop up

on other ppls servers, but i only

see what looks like a square or rectangle

object popping up. am i doing somthing wrong?

If you're seeing peers and you're in a game then that's the host, it just may not be marked as a dedicated server in the database.

Are you seeing this ping on the Geo-Filter? Click the ? icon at the top of the interface next to the logos on the Geo-Filter page. That will run you through a tour that will get you to grips with using the Geo-Filter. Make sure you have connected ALL devices in your home to the XR500, nothing should be connected to the ISP modem/router except for the XR500 otherwise QoS will not be able to control your network effectively.

Depending on the game you won't always see things being blocked. As long as you're getting a host within your radius it's working.

okay i think im starting to understand it,

so i wont see any icons for certian games?

also i limited my radius from 1000-350..would that make any form of a diffrence

ping wise?

what was confused about was, if i didnt see any icons, i was assuming

i wasnt getting low ping/latency.

Yeah for example with CoD you're very likely to see blocked players but with other games you may only see the server appear in your radius. As long as you see an icon within your radius you've successfully filtered. It would ensure you get a closer game - if there is a server available within that distance or it could expand your search times.

it wont go thru, i use chrome notebook and its not allowing the file to come thru.

any other way around it'

You should be able to download it to the hard drive. You don't open it on the Chromebook, you just upload the downloaded file on the the router through the interface.

is it better to use a peer or a dedicated server?

im only asking bc ive noticed the dedicated server

is a higher ping

You can't distinguish between the two as the game will use whatever system it primarily uses. A peer may be a dedicated server that just hasn't been marked on the Geo-Filter database as a server.
