PC host filtering

Recommended Posts

I  have recently bought a PC and play pro evolution soccer 18 on it.

I used to have a PS4 which i used the my netduma on, and it worked perfectly, but on my PC my Netduma host filtering does not work.

I know what the problem is i think, its the select service option on the set up which used to be a simple set up as i had it on playstation network, but i dont know what setting to put it on now so that it works, and the advanced option is confusing me.

Anyone got any ideas on how i can solve my problem?

really don't want to sell my Netduma as i have had it working perfectly for a few years now and would like to get it up and running on my PC again.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated THANKS.

With PC games you'll want to use the Xbox Live service. This will open all the ports necessary for most (if not all) PC games.

We're making this more intuitive on DumaOS since it's not obvious which service to choose with PC games. Let us know if that helps :)

Jack, why do Steam users need to choose the XBL service over PSN when they seem to be the same thing? They both cover UDP 1024-65535 destination and source

PSN:

[{"enabled":true,"connections":[{"state":"NEW","pack1dir":"either","purpose":"h","dport":"1024:65535","proto":"udp"},{"state":"NEW","proto":"udp","purpose":"h","sport":"1024:65535","pack1dir":"either"}],"name":"Play station network","id":32,"mac":"xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx"}]

XBL:

[{"enabled":true,"connections":[{"state":"NEW","pack1dir":"either","purpose":"h","dport":"1024:65535","proto":"udp"},{"state":"NEW","proto":"udp","purpose":"h","sport":"1024:65535","pack1dir":"either"}],"name":"Xbox live","id":33,"mac":"xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx"}]

Good spot - I believe this was just to remove some confusion and allow PS4 players to feel like they've selected the correct service as well as Xbox players. The whole 'add device' system is far more intuitive in DumaOS though - none of these complications should be there.

I'm pretty sure if you're a PC gamer you could select either. :)

I always wondered why the XBL service... I tried it on IW last night and it worked, but curiously I've been getting normal red dots outside of my radius at times, regardless of whether strict mode was ticked or not. I'd previously been trying single ports rather than PSN for the service and I'd either be locked out of servers (even those in my radius and within my ping assist value were padlocked), I'd see no dots whatsoever, or a few UK based players (judging by the pings I got to them) would be in the ocean off the coast of Africa lol

Could be a coincidence but using 3074 only, for example, seemed to force peer hosts only, and the map seemed to be really sparsely populated in comparison. It wouldn't show ⚠ symbols at all, and in many games only one dot would come up. If I selected auto ping host, nothing would be pinged at all, and none of the dots would grow in order to show the host. In the games that did show the host there'd always be an update button, and it ranged from 20-80ms even though I ended up putting my home location in the ocean and using 40ms ping assist after a while. Pretty strange stuff. Using this method also confirmed I'm still unable to pull host even though I'm on a server's doorstep with what I'd guess is more than sufficient bandwidth. This is one of the games I found on a 25ms~ host which was so laggy I couldn't even aim straight against most players in the lobby, and hitmarkers were so delayed... I added the geofilter screenshot at the start just to show what I was getting to the host, because it was one of the only lobbies where I could actually ping a visible host

Tried 3074 (s port) only again yesterday and managed to find servers as usual. My head hurts haha

Good info - If this is the case then perhaps those services are tied to our cloud server in some way. Seems like it's probably a niche of the interface I've not learned about yet, but I'm sure Fraser will know. Interesting stuff!

Maybe it's a sign that I should just use the geofilter properly ;) haha
