My bandwidth is 32down 9up i have the algorithm on premtive, sliders on 70/70 and my profile is ultimate COD is there something i can do to make the game more responsive.

Hi, welcome to the forum! First off, what's your ping to the game, and what is your location / how far away are the servers? This will help us to advise you on the best setup for your Geo-Filter.

Secondly, I'd run an Internet Diagnostics test. Let us know what readings you get for spikes / jitter / base ping. If these can all be improved you can improve your game performance that way. Keep us posted :D

Thank you for your welcome

I am located in South Wales there seams to be a server in South England near the coast that must be a dedicated server (which i seam to connect to most of the time)

You have mentioned that i need to state the ping to the game can you please explain how i can get this info? And i will let you know this evening.

I have used DSLR reports to speed test, is this the correct way to do a speed test? Shiuld i do the test through my ps4 web browser or my ipad for example and whilst im speed testing do i need to have the netduma on certain settings for example geo filter off, and the sliders up to 100% and can i get results for spikes / jitter / base ping with this site (DSLR report)

Your help is much appreciated, so once again thanks

You can find your ping to the game by clicking on the largest circle on the map. The largest circle is always the host of the game. Once you have clicked on it, the Ping Graph will open below the Geo-Filter map. Check out that graph to see your distance to the server and your ping to the game.

To run a speed test accurately, always do it on a wired PC. Console speed tests are very inaccurate since consoles lack the software necessary to properly run them. I'd also run this on speedtest.net though it's up to you which site you use.

If you want to test for ping spikes etc, I'd first run an Internet Diagnostics on the Netduma for a basic understanding. If those results are quite negative, you should then go further and get PingPlotter (free software). Use PingPlotter to run a ping test for half an hour, pinging a site like Twitter.com. The PingPlotter interface looks quite daunting but setting up a test isn't too hard - if you post a screenshot of that test here we could let you know how your line is doing :)

Hope i have provided enough info Jack

I forgot to state that the server that i stated 284km

Game ping graph was showing around 12ms somtimes 15-20ms

That's a pretty exceptional ping as well - all your stats are looking great. There's a couple of things you could still have a look at.

Firstly, whenever you get into a really bad P2P game I'd recommend using the Allow and Deny feature to 'deny' it. Building up a library of good quality 'allowed' servers and bad quality 'denied' servers is a great way to improve your experience over time.

You might want to check on your bufferbloat as well with a DSL reports test. If your bufferbloat bad it could be causing congestion-related issues. Do you have worse games when other devices are downloading? What about at different times of day? All worth noting down. Try using Anti-Flood at 70/70, reset Device Prioritisation and apply, tick Share Excess and put your console in Hyper Traffic. This should mitigate the effects of congestion on your gameplay.

Are you on BT by any chance Dan? I know someone near Newport who gets around 30/8Mb but he's on BT Infinity, which is weird to me as a fellow Infinity user since the smallest package they do is 55/10. Are you just far away from your local exchange or cabinet?

As for fine tuning, I'd suggest using the DSLReports test and PingPlotter simultaneously, or you can use the command prompt ping tool in place of PingPlotter. Simply ping something like twitter.com, and run a speed test at the same time while your sliders are at max to get an idea of what bufferbloat does for your pings. This can be considered your base bloat. Then keep the ping test running (having two windows on your PC side by side is a good idea for convenience), reduce your sliders by 5 or 10% and run another speed test. Keep doing this until you notice the speed test doesn't cause an increase in latency anymore.

If you're using the command prompt ping tool instead of PingPlotter, make sure you use the command "ping twitter.com - t" rather than just "ping twitter.com"; this will keep the ping running so you don't need to keep re-entering the command constantly. When you're doing testing you can stop the ping by pressing CTRL + C :)

Thanks for that it seams a little better.

I would really like to fine tune now and combat buffer bloat.

What could you recommend

The advice above is great - IIIRL is a star when it comes to testing bufferbloat. Please let us know if you have any questions and how you get on :)

In the last few days i have upgraded to sky fibre max so i now have a bandwidth of up to 80 but im getting average of 60/20 as the line settles.

I have used DSLRreports and adjusted my slides down in %5 increments and settled on Reactive, down 73 up 92 and the games where 10 times better.

I must admit i did the spead test through the ps4 as my mac has old sofware and the browser is not capable of even loadind DSRLreports so the cosole is all i have at the moment that can be wired.

Yeah as far as I know, you just need to leave your modem on constantly while it figures itself out. I can't even remember if I adhered to their instructions after installation - because, well... my memory sucks - but I get what I pay for either way haha

I use my PS4 browser as the DSLR test runs better on that than on my laptop. Just make sure you don't have the geofilter page up on your PS4 browser in the background while playing - it seems to cause insane lag in game, which is quite annoying if you're wanting to monitor what's going on in game because you're noticing something off in the first place. If you have the geofilter open in one tab and run a DSLR test on another tab with the PS4 browser, you'll see what I mean. You'll end up with triple digit ms latency and bufferbloat through the roof, even while using sliders that normally suppress it. If you swap to the QoS page or something else on the R1 GUI that lag doesn't occur, so I'd guess that maybe it has something to do with the map and the way the radius scans it constantly. Curiously this lag isn't shown by the geofilter ping tool, which is disconcerting considering that's what causes the lag in the first place lol

If you want to keep an eye on your geofilter page while playing I'd suggest leaving it open on a laptop or phone browser, and keeping your PS4 browser closed

That's awesome to hear, I'm glad your gameplay is better now. The advice above is great, and it sounds like your settings are pretty well tuned now. We do always suggest a speed test through a laptop / PC since the browsers on consoles don't support Javascript, Flash or other bits of essential browsing software. This makes browser tests on consoles fairly inaccurate, and the test built in to the console settings is really bad in particular.

Please let us know if you have any more issues, but again I'm really glad you're getting the most out of your Netduma now :D
