Lyncho84 Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 Was wondering why I can't use my netduma as my primary and only router after my modem? At the minute I use my netgear r7000 modem/router with my r1 wired to that then my ps4 wired to r1.Ihave a separate modem which I would like to use then my r1 but it won't work...why??
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 9, 2017 Administrators Posted October 9, 2017 Try the above, you may also require PPPoE authentication if you previously had a router between the R1 & modem. Its a username/password that you'd need to put into Settings > WAN.
Lyncho84 Posted October 9, 2017 Author Posted October 9, 2017 The modem is an older openreach modem for bt.The reason im looking to try this is because im getting bad bufferbloat on my netgear and want to try something else.can yous recommend anything guys?

You need to use PPPoE on the Duma to use the Openreach modem. If you have a BT username & password use that otherwise use: Username: [email protected] Password: BT

To be honest I wouldn’t use dslreports mate, it’s really inconsistent. Download PingPlotter, ping twitter.com and set the interval to 2.5 seconds that will give you a far better indication of what is happening with your line.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 10, 2017 Administrators Posted October 10, 2017 Bufferbloat only occurs when your connection gets saturated, if you're using the R1congestion control properly then that won't happen. If you want more in depth stats then suggest the above instead.
