DNS problems

Recommended Posts

hello, recently my netduma hasn't been connection to the internet on my ps4 or laptop (ps4 wired, laptop wireless) if i connect to it on my laptop i am unable to go on the internet and when i turn on my ps4 it wont let me do anything unless i connect back to my bt internet, the troubleshoot on my laptop says its a dns problem but im not sure if it is or not, i tried to look if there was an update but when i click on it the update tab opens into a new tab and it says no internet is available like when i try to go on anything else, it hasnt done this until yesterday but obviously its quite a big problem as it doesnt allow me to use the internet or my console whilst connected to the netduma.(im writing this post connected to my BT internet)

Reboot your modem with the Netduma connected

It sounds like you need to enter the BT PPPoE information into settings > WAN on the Netduma.

If you don't know what that is you should be able to enter:

Username: [email protected]

Password: BT

ive done this but its still not working, it wont load any tabs and it says "theres no internet connection" and when i go on my ps4 it says "cannot connect to server." worst timing ever considering the WWII beta is coming up aswell, aha, ive had the netduma for a while now, afew problems at the beginning but they where resolved and now randomly this has just happened, if you know how to fix this please help asap, thank you.

So before without PPPoE it worked just fine? If so do a factory reset on the R1 via miscellaneous settings and then see if you get a connection after that

no, it diddnt work before or after i done the PPPoE, and i dont the factory reset and it still diddnt work, my internet was down for a day in my area (BT) and it stopped working as soon as it came back up if that helps in anyway??

(im pretty sure its something to do with the DNS because when i go on my ps4 it says cant connect to DNS servers and when i go on my laptop it says something about the DNS when i try to connect to the internet so is there anyway the dns changed when my internet was down or something do they are different and cant connect to each other, i dunno just an idea)

I mean before BT went down did you have to use PPPoE or did you just have internet without it?

It's likely not to do with DNS but if your DNS settings are set to auto then that shouldn't be a problem.

Power off both your hub and your R1. Unplug the R1 from the hub. Power up the hub and after one minute, power up the R1. Then after a minute connect it to the hub.

right okay so shall i keep it on automatic dns, and then do that and i diddnt change any settings after the bt went down i dont think i used the PPPoE before it went down but illdo what you just said and let you know if it works, fingers crossed

ive done this, do i connect it to the broadband WAN ethernet port on the bt router?

it diddnt work, it still comes up with this when i try to use the internet https://gyazo.com/547d48da071fc515d0c2d19f19f690bfand still wont let me use the netduma on the ps4 either. When i try to connect on the ps4 it says "A DNS error has occurred (NW-31253-4)

Yes port 1 of the Netduma should be connected to the port 1 of the hub. Just to clarify you do have access to the R1 interface?

Do you have a WAN IP in the device manager? Go to settings > WAN and make sure static is not enabled.

i can only use the Netudma interface when im connected to the netduma (its the only website i can connect to) and static is disabled, i enabled it yesterday but it diddnt work so i just disabled it again but it still doesnt work unfortunately
