Netduma not working

Recommended Posts

I've had my netduma for a while with no issues but it recently stopped working, the WiFi symbol doesn't light up but the PWR light does, I can connect to it and access the home page but the connection itself doesn't work. Does anybody know what the problem might be?

Hi, welcome to the forum! So the good news is that the WiFi light should never be on - the WiFi light actually indicates whether the Netduma firmware is on the router; if it was turned on, it would mean there was no Netduma software present on the router.

Do you get Internet access connected with an Ethernet cable to a PC? And also, do you know if you require PPPoE? You'll need to enter your PPPoE username and password in the Netduma WAN settings if you do. Do you see the Netduma WiFi network on your devices?

The WiFi connection shows up on my devices and I can connect to it but it doesn't work, on my PC it says "connection secured, no internet" also to enable PPPoE is there a specific username and password I use, how do I do that? I connected my laptop to my netduma with an Ethernet cable and the same thing happens

Could you talk us through your setup? What make is your modem? Try rebooting your modem and your Netduma from settings > miscellaneous. Your PPPoE details should be easy to find - either on your modem interface or in documentation your ISP gave you. Some ISP's do not require this though, which is why it would be useful to know your modem type.

I've tried rebooting it from the settings, I'm with Bell Canada and my nat is type 2

Bell modems do require PPPoE from what I've read and seen. You could access your modem Interface (by typing its IP address into the URL) and find PPPoE in there, which should be under WAN settings. Or, if you find any documentation of your Bell modem, you could find instructions in there which should make mention of PPPoE and give you your username and password.

Once you get this username and password, go onto the Netduma Interface and put the username and password into the PPPoE section in Settings > WAN. This will give you Internet access.

Your NAT type is good - that's an open NAT and won't be related to having no Internet access. Let us know how you get on :)

The only thing I see on WAN settings is that my network mode is DHCP and I can switch to PPPoE it doesn't give me a username and password

If you go to the Device Manager on the Netduma interface, do you see a blue box with a WAN IP? If you don't, go to Settings > WAN and make sure Static is disabled. Then turn off the R1 and turn off your ISP hub. Wait 10 seconds then turn on your ISP hub. Wait 30 seconds then turn on the R1. You should now have Internet access.

Just to clarify this point, was this on the modem/router provided to you by Bell or the Netduma itself?

Connect to the Bell modem/router interface and find the connected devices list, can you see the Netduma in the list? It may show as a MAC address (you can find the MAC address on the underside of the Netduma router itself)

That was on the Bell router interface

The netduma doesn't show for connected devices

My WAN IP doesn't show on the netduma interface but I did DMZ beforehand and it used my wan IP and if I go on my ISP hub it shows the wan IP from before
