why do you recomend the static ip? is it that important?

Yes because otherwise the router may assign a different IP address on a reboot which means all packets would be forwarded from the wrong device.

Just to add to what bags was saying if you don't set a static IP addy for your console but port forward  and your console is the only thing on that day it will be fine but the following day you go to game but that day someone is on a laptop and a phone surfing the web etc.

Now,one of those other devices on your network could have the same IP addy that was handed out dynamically for your console yesterday when you manually port forwarded, but didn't set it as static. So now for example... a laptop has your console's IP addy and the  ports forwarded to it instead of your console.

As bags said it's important, if your going to PF.

As has been mentioned if the IP changes then your port forwarding would not be going to the console anymore. If you set a static IP for the console the IP will never change and therefore your port forwarding settings will always apply.
