Low speeds/high ping HELP PLEASE

Recommended Posts

Hi, my isp is virgin media and I just recently upgraded my internet from 70down to 200down, with just the virgin hub connected through wired I get full speeds but with the netduma connected to the hub I only get 30down and over 100ping.

Do you switch the superhub to modem mode?  Run a factory reset on the netduma, enter the new bandwidth, enable cookies, sliders at 100% and retest.

If you need to switch the superhub back to router services, 192.168.100.1 is the address it normally gains in modem mode.

I was on VM 50/3 and always got more like 55 down and 2.5 up. When I received a free "upgrade" to 100/6 that's when the problems started. The 100 was more like 25-50 down and my base latency would spike from 14ms to 30-40ms every two or three seconds; not a massive amount of jitter, but it was always there. Always had a lot of packet loss despite trying a new Superhub too.

Haven't seen anything like that since moving to BT Infinity. Seems like Virgin's high bandwidth packages cause a lot more issues.

I've factory reset it again and installed it like new and only getting 40mb still instead of 200

Try enabling these settings:

- Reactive Algorithm
- 100% anti-flood
- Share excess enabled
- Reset device prioritisation & apply
- Disable IPv6 in WAN, LAN & misc
- Disable deep packet in misc
- Enable turbo mode
- Ensure the ethernet cables you're using connecting the R1 to hub & R1 to PC are Cat5e+/can handle your speeds.
- Do a wired speed test from a PC

Swapping out your cable is a good bet. What are the results of a Network Diagnostics test? If your base ping has taken a big hit, it's likely that something is wrong with your equipment since your speeds package changed.
