LB0025
I currently have specific ports forwarded in my ISP Gateway for the COD game that I play on my ps4. When I connect the ps4 to my Netduma do I enter the port forward numbers in the the Netduma. And take them out of the gateway. Also I think I need to put the Netduma into the dmz on my gateway. How do I handle the port forwarding. Do I need to do this or just put the Netduma into the dmz. What is the best way to handle it. Iam pretty good with this stuff, but not really smart like some people when it comes to this. I want to make sure I still have all the port forwarding for the game but use the perks of the Netduma. I have 190 download and 9 upload. Iam looking for the ping managment because thats where the problem is. Peer to peer ping is where the lag is

The ideal situation is to get a standalone modem that doesn't have a built in router so you don't run into double NAT issues. I recommend the TP-Link TC-7610 for cable in the United States at least. The second best option is to put the gateway into bridge mode which disables the router. This can sometimes be done in the GUI of the modem, but usually the best thing is to call your ISP and tell them to bridge it for you because you want to use your own router. Connect your Netduma to port 1 on your modem, reboot the modem, and enjoy. The third option, and in my opinion worst, is to put the Netduma in your gateway's DMZ. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 3, 2017 Administrators Share Posted May 3, 2017 Hey, welcome to the forum! As above use bridge mode if possible, otherwise put the WAN IP from the Netduma device manager into the gateway DMZ. Disable WiFi on the gateway and remove port forwarding from it and disable UPnP. Then use either UPnP OR port forwarding on the Netduma.
LB0025
Thank you for the tips. I also have a static IP set up on the gateway. Would I remove that and make the static Ip on the Netduma
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 3, 2017 Administrators Share Posted May 3, 2017 If you mean you've set a static IP for the console then yes do as you've said.
LB0025
This is my second Netduma. I sent the first one back because of the issues I was having. I always have a open nat type. I was setting this up because of the ping control you have with the Netduma. When I set the other one up my Nat type went moderate and I couldnt connect with some of my friends that were inside of the range. I really want to set this one up and keep the open nat type. Will port forwarding or putting the Netduma into the DMZ fix that issue
LB0025
OK my last question and I think Im done. If I put the Netduma into the DMZ and connect everything wifi to the Netduma. Are the items that are connected wifi unsecure. Or does the Netduma have security to protect while in the dmz. Thank you Im finished bothering you
PharmDawgg
According to the developers the R1 has prebuilt security so you are ok to place it into the dmz.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 4, 2017 Administrators Share Posted May 4, 2017 R1 in the DMZ will be best to help secure an open NAT and like Buck said theres an inbuilt firewall so your devices are protected.
