Can't get connection

Recommended Posts

G'day,

I am having issues trying to get my netduma to work. I am in Australia and on an fftn connection (VDSL) through a technicolour tg-1 modem. It is running in bridge mode and if I set up a pppoe connection through my laptop it is able to get a connection so it seems the tg1 is working properly. When I connect it to the netduma it doesn't seem to pick up the login details, as in username and password to get an internet connection. I can login through the WiFi to the ui but can not get an internet connection. I admittedly don't know much about networking so any help would be appreciated. I'm not sure what kind of details would be relevant to post here but my isp is internode on a vdsl connection which to my knowledge provides a dynamic ip requiring a username and password (pppoe) login to get a connection.

cheers

The actual physical connections are telephone jack into tg1 modem providing fttn connection. Then cat 6 from tg1 wan port to poe port on netduma. Everything else (ps4 etc) is connected to the netduma but I can't get a working connection. I have physically entered the pppoe settings as in the username and password into the netduma but that's all. No other changes from out of the box.Firmware is 1.03.6h running on rb-951g-2hnd

Any chance you can provide us with screenshots of your WAN and LAN page of your duma UI? And i know im stating the obvious here but i take it u did click apply once entering your PPPoE username and password??

sorry i tried both on my mobile and laptop to upload a screenshot of the wan/lan pages but no joy.. but in any case i didn't modify anything in the netduma settings apart from adding the username and password in the pppoe section of the wan tab. I did apply it and reboot the router but there was no result...cheers

The static IP that your ISP provides you with doesnt happen to be IPv6 does it? If you dont know then just out of curiosity try enabling it in WAN/LAN/miscellaneous page and see what happens. Could be BS but worth a try i guess.

@at Stealth_01 my isp is at the moment providing me with a dynamic IPv4 address not a static ip. Do I need a static ip? sorry I'm pretty clueless with this stuff...

cheers

Sorry for some reason i thought i read static, i do apologise. But to answer your question, a static IP is not needed. I can't see why your failing to connect tbh. I myself have my PPPoE set up and it all works fine. Try a factory reset on the duma and try again. Possibly you may have checked/unchecked something by mistake. Its hard to tell without any screenshots. I'll provide you with my screenshots when i get a chance to see if you have anything differant.

P.S. if you do choose to do a factory reset the default wi-fi password will return to netdumar1

No worries bud, hopefully one of the tech guru's can have a look into this a little bit more by the time you wake up.

Should have a connection so probably the easiest way is a 1 on 1. Post in the 1 on 1 section: http://forum.netduma.com/forum/66-request-1-on-1/and I will have a look. Please note I need around a days notice.

Please read this first before making the post: http://forum.netduma.com/topic/11450-read-before-posting-a-1-on-1-request/

@Stealth01@Netduma Fraser thanks for the help. I mirrored the settings in Stealth01's screenshots but to no avail. After searching the internet for the user manual for the Technicolour Tg1, I found out that the red Wan port on my tg1 can only be used to connect to an internet access device and can not be used to connect other devices such as a laptop. So in short all I did was remove the ethernet cable from the red wan port of the tg1 and connected the Netduma to one of the normal ethernet ports in the back of the tg1 and away it went.
