MarssNL
Hello people! It's been a while. Hope you all have a fantastic day. Since two weeks I have a new housemate which also owns a PS4. His setup is upstairs and is wired to a switch, which is wired to the Duma. My setup is downstairs and is directly wired to the Duma. But most of the time either of us can't join other friends on CoD. I've deleted the port forwarding for my PS4 and that helped for an evening, but the problem is back. I can't seem to find the right settings for both of us. If we play both, we both have NAT Type Moderate but so now and then it jumps to Strict. Hopefully someone knows a solution for us, because it gets really frustrating...
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 3, 2017 Administrators Share Posted February 3, 2017 It will be harder to get an open NAT with multiple consoles. e38BimmerFN
What is the Mfr and model if your ISP modem? Does it have a built in router or is it stand alone modem only? Stand alone is preferred. Are you checking the PS dashboard for NAT status or in game? Dash board is most important over the in game status. I could never get my 2 xboxes on OPEN NAT with the R1 be it I tried many things. One or the other would be moderate NAT. One issue is that how uPnP code is handling the two consoles and specific ports that are needed. With Xbox, 3074 is the main port for gaming however two consoles can't occupy the same port, thus a virtual port is needed. uPnP should be handling this correctly on the router. Also the network adapters on consoles can be come hung up on port data and traffic and needs to be cleared then the game console powered off then back on may help. Test by alternating which console gets turned on first to see the behavior. I hope Frasers info works. Please let us know if it does.

My ISP modem is in bridge mode, so it only works like a modem. I don't mind to have two times Moderate if we can join eachother and other friends. If only one PS4 is in use NAT Type is always Open. But when I use UPnP instead of Port forwarding I don't need to fill in these ports, right? Also we're playing 99% of the time Gamebattles, so we don't have the Geo-Filter on anyways. Yes thats right, don't port forward if you're using UPnP. Ahh I see, so definitely a NAT issue then.
e38BimmerFN
ya if your letting uPnP handle the ports and both are getting Moderate NAT and your modem is bridged, I presume this is a uPnP issue. Same issue I had last year when trying to get 3 and 3 xboxes online at one time with the R1. You might try Frasers port ward rules and turn OFF uPnP and see if this helps any better. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it happen with the R1 and multiple consoles. I had to use an alternative router.
