No internet need help please

Recommended Posts

My isp is RCn cable. model of modem is arris CM820A. I've tried everything from turning off for 30 seconds waiting and turning back on. I have access to the Duma control panel and tried to set it to the mac of my old router and it's still not grabbing a wan ip. Any other options I haven't thought of would help. Thank you.

Hello, welcome to the forum!

Theres no need to set it to a different MAC address. In most cases all you will need to do is reboot from miscellaneous settings.

Do you know if you require PPPoE authentication?

Hi thanks for the reply I already tried that numerous times with no success :(. No my router doesn't require pppoe. It's cable>modem>r1. I was using an old linksys e1200 with dd-wrt and it works fine.

Theres no reason you shouldn't be getting internet through the R1. To clarify you have the R1 connected via port 1 to port 1 of the Arris?

If so please try connected it to port 2 of the duma, do you have internet then?

When connected to the R1 can you go to command prompt on your PC and type in "ipconfig" and post a screenshot here please.

Yes I had them in the right ports as my modem only has one port for internet. I also tried port two last night and still couldn't get internet. I can post a cmd when I get home from work in the next couple of hours. Only thing I noticed when I ran a cmd is that my dns was 192.168.88.1 which isn't supposed to the same as the default gateway. I tried manually changing it to 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4, my normal dns, and leaving it on auto. It wouldn't pull a dns it was always the same as the gateway. Also I'm on latest firmware.

and this one is internet in port 2 and an ethernet in port 5 > PC. Its basically like I'm wired directly into the modem when i did it this way. so i had internet this way.1483920216-U11525.jpg

Do you still have a spare router; perhaps the Linksys you mentioned earlier? If so, please post in the 1 on 1 section with dates / times you'll be available this week and Fraser will book you in.
