Liechts Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Need help opening my NAT Type from Strict to Open. I have tried the support forums and guides and nothing seems to work. Please advise.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 5, 2017 Administrators Posted January 5, 2017 Hey, welcome to the forum! What is your physical setup? E.g. modem > router > netduma? modem > netduma? modem/router combo > netduma? You'll want to have the Netduma connected to a modem, or a combo that's in modem mode or a router with the Netduma WAN IP (found in device manager) in it's DMZ. Then turn off UPnP & port forwarding on that router. Have UPnP OR port forwarding enabled on the Netduma, with upnp forwarding disabled in miscellaneous settings. Also what console are you using? What does it show in the console network settings? If PS4 NAT Type 2 is open, just means it is behind a router.
Liechts Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 Yes I have a modem/router combo > netduma. Unfortunately I have tried all those options. None have seemed to work I'm afraid.
Netduma Staff Netduma Jack Posted January 5, 2017 Netduma Staff Posted January 5, 2017 Yes I have a modem/router combo > netduma. Unfortunately I have tried all those options. None have seemed to work I'm afraid. It's difficult to solve this problem unless we know exactly what we're dealing with. We need to know what console you're using; and especially whether you have more than one of the same console. There could be a specific port that once opened could give you an open NAT reading. And also on the console, what does the network settings say your NAT type is? It would also be helpful to know whether you're using UPnP or Port Forwarding at this point, and whether you've tried both.
Liechts Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 I have just 1 Xbox One console. The network setting says the NAT type is Strict. I'm using UPnP and have tried Port Forwarding. None of which seem to work
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 6, 2017 Administrators Posted January 6, 2017 If you have modem mode or DMZ enabled there is no way it should be strict at all. Please post in the 1 on 1 section & I'll take a look.
Liechts Posted January 6, 2017 Author Posted January 6, 2017 I think the problem lies with my modem/router. I do not have a static IP address. This is basically what I have. See the link below http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2558843/att-homebase-nat.html
Liechts Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 Is this something you can help me with? Otherwise can you please close the forum so I may return the netduma. Thanks
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 7, 2017 Administrators Posted January 7, 2017 Not having a static IP address wouldn't affect modem mode/NAT. However, as previously stated make a post in the 1 on 1 section with dates/times you would be available next week and I will see what can be done.
