PLusnet(open reach) modem/netduma combo no upload speed

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I'm so hyped , i finally got my netduma.

I'm sorry to say I've ran straight into issues and need help.

So i removed my asus and plugged straight into my openreach bt modem( i beleive plusnet uses bt but it is a plusnet ppoe login).

On dslreports I get approx 50-60 mb download ,ping all over red orange and green ,but it wont complete the upload section, blips to 1 mb then drops away to nothing and aborts itself.

I've tried a factory reset and only username and password for ppoe bandwidth set as per isp.

reactive/proactive ,100,9,70,10,percent on the sliders(the download comes down as expected but the upload does not change (less than a mb down to zero)

enable deep packets on/off,

ipv6 on/off on wan and lan,

So far nothing seems to change it , so dissappointed.

Old router (asus dsl ac68u) with built in dsl modem achieves 75.5mb and 19.5mb, bt modem to asus achieves the same , with the netduma attached to the same modem 55 and 250 kb if it finishes the test.

I know its bank holiday so I'm not expecting anyone to spoil there holiday.

Any help would be great :(

Hey, welcome to the forum!

Just double check everything from this list:

  • Reactive Algorithm
  • 100% anti-flood
  • Share excess enabled
  • Reset device prioritisation & apply
  • Disable IPv6 in WAN, LAN & misc
  • Disable deep packet in misc
  • Enable turbo mode (only if unable to get your speeds with everything else set)
  • Ensure the ethernet cables you're using connecting the R1 to hub & R1 to PC are Cat5e+/can handle your speeds.
  • Do a wired speed test from a PC

Thanks for your replies

Redbull with settings as you suggest I get 29ms 27.4mb down and 0 .6 down , the test failed for zero upload but gave the numbers anyway.

Hi Fraser, I'm resetting to factory ,again , and going thru your settings next.

I'll report back soon, thanks for the ideas :)

Hi Fraser,

With all settings as you suggest except presently there is only one device attached so I cant reset the device priority I get 20ms 42.8 down and 0.8 ish up but again it fails for zero upload :(

Hi , sorry for all the posts , just trying things out and trying to give as much info as I can to get it working.

I was being lazy and only tested via wireless, so to be complete I did a wired test  .

Only 0.5 mb up and down, now I'm really stumped.

I've tried different (proven) cables with no change, as soon as I go back to wirless the download goes up to around 60 mb but the upload doesn't move??

HI , last one for tonight , no more me spamming the post button

I attached the R1 wired to the DMZ of the Asus , exact same results

Wired and wireless from the asus 75/17.5 form the R1 50/0.7 wireless and 0.5/0.5 wired.

No clue what to do try next

sounds like qos on asus just for your duma device, what previous settings you got in there?

i would definitely say you need to look closer at the asus, that is where the bottleneck is happening.

Thanks for your reply Redbull, unfortunately I get the same results from the the R1 if i remove the asus and go straight from the bt modem.

The only thing I've just seen in your sig is you have the HG612 I have the  ECI  B-Focus modem, I wonder if that would make a difference?

Good morning

I was up late last night trying to configure the R1 with massive help form Redbull2k, I simply cannot say thank you to him enough.

Unfortunately it still isn't working, Redbull2k has the same setup as me except his bt openreach modem is the HG612 mine is the ECI , not sure that's important.

He was brilliant and has connected over Wan and I believe we now have matching settings,he's getting 74/17 as per his sig , I get 40 to 60 down and less than 1 up on DSL reports, it is worth mentioning thats the same results on ookla but on thinkbroadband test i get 14 up ??

Is there any way the R1 can be checked over in a one to one by a netduma administrator ?

I'm starting to think there must be a fault with the unit
