Jia1000
Ive been using my duma for about a year and im very pleased with it. I live in the UK and play BO3 on xb1 with local friends. We normally start playing around 10pm and everything is fine (apart from a couple players lagging here and there) but come 12:30am things get really bad to a point where its just unplayable! Big lag spikes, frame rate drops, players lagging every where!!! Its not just me who is experiencing this but my friends also. Normally we just start playing another game like rocket league or something. When i game all devices on my network are turned off or blocked apart from my xb1 But recently i thought i would try getting down to the bottom of this. On my Duma my location is set to the UK, 250m radius and my ping assist set to 40. With these settings it always gives me a dedicated server in Ireland, guaranteed! So i thought i would change it up and see if i can get on a dedicated server in France or Germany and see if the servers there were any better come 12:30am. I changed my home location to Germany, set a 400m radius, ping assist to 50 but i still get put into a server in Ireland! Infact even if i put my home location to USA with a bigger radius and ping assist i still get Ireland!! lol. Any ideas guys? Am i doing something wrong? Are there dedicated servers in Europe other than Ireland? Thanks
ColonicBoom
I haven't played BO3 for a couple of months but the ONLY Euro dedis for X1 were in Ireland while I was playing. I did put myself on the US servers occasionally though, a bit North East of Florida I think it was. It played surprisingly well too. I don't think you're doing anything wrong... But when you want to change your Geo radius to somewhere else (for example the US), try turning off your Xbox, set the Geo on the US, reboot your Netduma from 'miscellaneous settings', then turn your xbox back on. Remember the anti-cheat feature takes a few minutes before it will register the changes too. Also, post up a pic of your Geo radius where you're trying to drop yourself, people will be able to confirm whether there are dedis there. And also remember that if you have a Ping Assist value set, this will often allow an override of the Geo radius with the BO3 dedis. And if 'Strict' is off, it will also allow you connect to dedis that are outside of your Geo radius. I noticed the midnight issue too, nearly every time when midnight rolled around the lobbies seemed to fall to pieces and became unplayable. Stopped playing so late in the end because it wasn't fun at all. I wondered if there might be some kind of 'timed gate', which opened around midnight, to allow players from further afield to hit the Irish dedis... Jia1000
Thanks for your reply. Im going to have play with dropping the ping assist and having strict set to off and report back. Nice to hear you had some good results with US servers! Maybe there is hope
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 22, 2016 Administrators Share Posted December 22, 2016 You should have strict on & ping assist to 0 to keep everything inside your radius, let us know how you get on!
Jia1000
After a couple of nights of testing i am pleasantly surprised how well the USA servers work from the UK. I had my Geo filter set to Florida, 500m radius, ping assist set to 0 and strict on. I was getting a steady 75ms - 83ms ping with no spikes at all. Me and friends went on a 8 game winning streak on TDM and my best game came around 2am UK time i went 48-11, my best game in months! It wasnt perfect though, a few games were a bit laggy but 90% of the time it was fine, definitely a big improvement from UK servers come midnight! Thanks again for all your help. Have a good Christmas
