Xbox updates with hyperlane + wifi speeds

Not sure if it has been covered or not but a search yielded no results. When updating the xbox dashboard i have noticed that i have to disable host filtering, i assume this is normal as i guess the microsoft servers are out of my filter range, but what about congestion control, do i have to manually update my sliders to 100% or because it is in hyperlane will this be bypassed?

Also, i have noticed that i am getting full speeds (within 5% or so) while wired to the Duma, but wifi speeds are stuck at 24mbps no matter what i do. I could be 2 feet away from the router or upstairs and get the same speeds. I'm not fussed about it really as the majority of my devices that require full speed are hard wired, but i was sure that i was getting faster speeds before i switched to Sky.

Lastly, bit of an odd one, but has anyone noticed some hesitatncy while streaming from Amazon? I get what looks like a missing frame or 2 every second, which is more noticable on faster moving or panning shots. I noticed while watchin something on live Sky tv that a part they had taken from The Grand Tour also did the same, which means that it must be a problem everyone is having?

Wireless standards

802.11b/g/n

This should give you faster than 24Mbps, make sure to try with wireless fix enabled or disabled, whatever the reverse of current is.

Next, if you have any wireless G devices on the wifi everything will go down to wireless g speeds ie 54Mb/s theoretical or about 25Mb/s real world.

I tried the wifi workaround option... exactly the same. I tried changing back to channel 1... exactly the same. Checked all attached devices... exactly the same.

I had a problem with my upstairs Q box last night where it had lost it's network connection to the main box and the internet etc. I chalked it down to me messing with the Dumas settings, then i realised i had removed IPV6 while testing these wireless speeds, so i re-enabled it as i think the Sky router and boxes use it. After some faffing i got the boxes re-synced, and i realised that maybe the wireless networking on the q boxes had been re-enabled when rebooting. I checked and indeed it had. I thought i had sussed it, figuring i was getting interference from the additional 2ghz network, however i disabled them and... it's still exactly the same :(

I'm not really fussed, but it's a bit annoying that i can't sort it...

then woke up to find this

Not sure what it means.

Have you used a WiFi analyser to find the least congested channel?

Also use PSK2 as the security mode.

Thanks Fraser. I use Inssider to check wifi channels and 1 seems to work out the best, although i wasn't sure if i would be losing bandwidth as it actually spans 3 channels if i remember rightly, so obviously as there is no channel below 1i wasn't sure if the bandwidth was just halved etc. I tried alternate channels though and nothing changed. I live in quite a heavily congested 2ghz area though by the looks, with me being able to see between 8-12 networks.

I'll try the security mode tonight as i can;t remember what that is set to.

Also, any idea on what might be causing my latency to jump like that in my above picture? It did a very similar thing last night too, so that's 2 nights in a row now. Previous days show the maximum latency go up due to peak times, but the minimum latency used to stay the same.

Okay let us know!

I assume at that time you may have anti-flood active? Is there any other devices not connected to the R1?

No new devices have been added in the last few days, sliders are set to 100% currently, but it happens pretty much exactly the same time each day.

I'm not on the console when this happens either, i've not even turned it on since last Saturday. The only devices actually using the connection during these times are 2 iphones and maybe my Sky Q main box.

I've tried numerous fine tunings within the Duma but cannot fathom out why the wifi speeds are lower than before i had Sky. Tbh, when i do a diagnostic from the Duma menu i get 'exceptional' results and 'no packet loss', apart from ping, which comes up a 'good'. This is surprising to me because when i did the test with VM i was getting all exceptional results. I've tried ping plotting from my iphone (to see if i could determin the speed problem) and wired from my PC. The PC shows i'm getting 1ms hops from pc to R1 and from R1 to hub. I'm not sure if it rounds these up or not, but i would expect times to be in the 0.** scale using 40cm cat 6 cables. When plotting on iphone though it shows a higher ms (5-6ms) hop from the R1 to the hub, which i do not understand, as surely the connection here is the same whether wired or not? Not only that but i get higher jitter spikes, both from the device to R1 (expected) and from the R1 to hub, again, i don't understand this. Could this be affecting my wifi speeds?

I am running the latest Sky Q hub. I have disabled both wifi frequencies, and DHCP on the hub. R1 is in the hubs DMZ. I have tried the wifi work around on and off. I have changed to the least congested channel in my area (10), only overlapping 1 other network, no cohabiting networks. I have tried enabling and disabling UPNP forwarding.

Short of resetting the R1 back to default and starting again, i'm not sure what else i can try. Can anyone shed any light on the ping problem outlined above as i think this has something to do with it. Or even what the best settings are for the Sky Q router etc. Thanks.
