General Issues with Connectivity, Access, and Stability

Recommended Posts

  1. What firmware version are you on?

    1.03.6h (Netduma purchases Sept. 27th 2016)

  2. What speeds do you get from multiple speed tests?

75mbps (Average) Download, 15mbps (Average) Upload

  3. What is your current setup? E.g. ISP hub/modem (Specify model) > R1 > all devices

RCN > RCN Modem (No WiFi) > Google On Hub > Switch > R1 > all personal devices

This is done because I live with 4 other roommates. We have our own personal networks in our room because we are spread far enough apart. One of my roommates has a Netduma purchases at the same time, with the same configuration, and has no issues I experience.

  4. What is your specific issue? (Provide as many details as possible. If it is a lag issue include the screenshots from here in your post)

Netduma consistently restarts itself wiping settings.

Netduma will drop all wifi and I will lose Alexa / phone / tablet nearly every 30-40 minutes. LAN connection to desktop remains unaffected, unless the device restarts.

At times the Netduma will restart itself and no wifi can be seen, it takes 2 other restarts to fix the issue.

  5. Any other information (such as settings you may have previously tried).

I've tried following recommended settings, the FAQ, 3 Factory resets, and attempting settings tried by various users thru the threads to tackle certain issues.

I've run Alexa from the Google On Hub for hours with no issue. Netduma Wifi dies after 30 minutes. I've tried using Desktop / Phone /Alexa as the only devices for a few hours and still showed the same problems.

    Hi All,

I've just joined the forums because I have no where else to turn but to either ask Netduma to allow me to RMA or contact support here to try to help with the issues.

Hopefully this goes for the best.

    Thanks!

    REM

1. Is the router overheating and restarting? Make sure it's not covered up and well ventilated.

2. Change the wifi channel you're using in wifi settings on the router.

3. Change the "wifi work around" setting in misc settings to the opposite of whatever option is currently selected.

The router is in a semi-open space and should be ventilated. It is mounted on the desk and doesn't usually appear to be warm. I couldbe wrong.

I've used Wifi channel 7 and then changed to channel 11 because it was less congested.

The WiFi Work Around in Misc has been turned on and off multiple times attempting to figure out the issue. The issues persisted even after factory reset.

Should be fine, I have mine mounted on the wall

The entire device just became unusable and needed a hard reset of power. There was no activity on the router for over 6 hours. I walked into the room to a dead Netduma. I have internet once more, but this keeps happening.

Do you know who I contact for RMA. Or have them remote access to check any logs to help find out what is wrong. I've seriously had less issues with a cheaper router and this one is only 2 months old.

Welcome to netduma. Works when it wants to. Resets on the regular. Honestly think it's because they went with cheap dual core low ram model. Only answer they can give you is wait for Duma OS 2.0. Which had been delayed yet again. Better be perrrrfect

Request a 1on1 you won't get a reply till Monday. Maybe later since it's holidays

Someone from Netduma will reply on Monday I'm sure...

I've had mine since launch 2014 and I honestly never have a problem with the router itself. I've had issues but it ended up being other things, not the router.

Seems so far turn off upnp in BOTH areas. Main problem with thing it seems. Manual port forward. Dont touch router ever again. And should be fine. Haven't had to mess with it in a month.

Upnp should be turned off when shipped by default. Would fix a ton of freezing issues at least.

I always use UPnP without a problem

Make sure the default VPN is disabled

If you do not have any advice to give then please do not post. It is very unhelpful to the person having the issue. If you're having issues make your own thread rather than determining it doesn't work for everyone in every post you make.

Hey REM, welcome to the forum!

Change the WiFi security mode to PSK2.

Also do you have any wireless devices in close proximity? Someone found that having wireless devices close to the router could cause it to cut out - only heard of that happening once but another thing to try would be to move any away from it and see if it happens again.

Happy to provide a replacement if we are unable to resolve the issue. Can do a 1 on 1 if the above doesn't resolve your issues.

Hello! Thank you.

I've tried the suggested above with VPN (always off) and UPNP (in both Misc. and the UPNP section of Settings). Neither seemed to change the pattern I've describe. I woke up this morning to the device resetting on its own again with all devices in sleep. All my wireless devices were moved to out Google On Hub until I can sort it out.

That being said. the closest device that is on wireless is at night in sleep mode (phone) and it is about 1.5 ft away. The second device would be the Amazon Echo which is 4 feet away.

Currently my iPad, Galaxy S7, and Amazon Echo are on all the On Hub wireless. The Desktop is the only device current on direct Ethernet cabling.

My Netduma wifi settings are WPA-PSK2 on Channel 11. 2.4Ghz Band.

A 1 on 1 would be great. I've run out of ideas what could be the issue. I even resorted to using the same settings and setup of device locations as my roommate who also has a Netduma and mine proceeded to fail as described.

I would move the phone away further if you can and see if that resolves it. Meanwhile though post in the 1 on 1 section: http://forum.netduma.com/forum/66-request-1-on-1/and I will have a look. Please note I need around a days notice. Please read this first before making the post: http://forum.netduma.com/topic/11450-read-before-posting-a-1-on-1-request/

I've posted a request  as asked. Sorry for the delay. I was running a test on the Netduma and it fantastically failed this morning.

No worries, we'll get it scheduled and your issue resolved.

Awesome. Thank you!

A little update. I did factory reset Monday night, did not connect any wifi device and only had my 2-Lan connection to my desktop. The router reset itself twice and required 2 restarts to get it back (under factory settings). The resets had to have been early AM EST time, and nothing runs on my PC over night that requires internet connection.
