bonitoa
Hello,I've bought the R1 a few days ago, got it yesterday and since then I have been trying to figure out what is wrong. My story:For over 2 years now I have been suffering of terrible "input lag\delay" while playing FIFA on PS4 so I decided to try the R1.I have changed my ISP router into bridge mode so it is acting as a modem. Then, I connected the R1 and configured the PPPoE and connected to the internet with no issues.I then started to configure everything... geo filter which didn't help much with the "input lag", tried to adjust the congestion control, open ports, upnp etc, nothing helped. Then i went and bought expressVPN and applied it on the R1, connected smoothly and I started the FIFA once again. The "input lag" was gone, however, I had TERRIBLE lags which I never experienced before(huge lag every second or so), tried to change the VPN servers and even bought strongVPN service but nothing helped(tried it in over 30 games).I started to think it might be my ISP so I even got a different ISP username and password, the issue remained the same, terrible lags with VPN connected. It didn't make sense to me since a friend of mine is using dd wrt + VPN and he had no issues. I found an old TP-LINK 1043ND in my storage unit and decided to burn dd-wrt firmware, took me a while but the FIFA started to work smoothly with no lags and no input delay while I am connected to the VPN.I'm not sure what went wrong with the R1 but it's probably something in the R1 configuration or it's hardware?I'll be glad to get some help here as I'm not sure what else I can do with the R1.Thanks in advance. BIG__DOG
gaming with a vpn is not advisable. As for input lag are you gaming on a tv, playing over wifi, do you know and understand about jitter aned bufferbloat? The duma works, nothing wrong with it just needs configuring properly......what isp are you with?

Yea I know it isn't advisable but it is working great with DD WRT(tried over 20 games) so it can't be my ISP or my network\tv etc. I'm playing on 51" Samsung (Plasma), wired connection. The only thing I can think of is something I didn't configure right in the R1(Which I doubt it since the UI is good and clear) or the R1 just don't know how to handle the VPN as it should. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 16, 2016 Administrators Share Posted October 16, 2016 Big TVs like that will have a large response time. However, provide me with the VPN config you're using and I can take a look. VPNs will always add additional latency so definitely not advisable to game through them and if you do you should connect to the closest possible server & use a gaming VPN if possible. Also please provide the screenshots from this link as it is likely you're setup incorrectly as well which won't help http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000022425-lag-support-instructions-to-post-on-the-forum-
