KurtK24
Need help hooking Netduma to a Hitron CGNVM-2559 for Mediacom. I had a WISP before and the Duma hooked straight to a power box modem and setup was simple. Now I have no clue what needs to be done and am getting conflicting answers from ISP. I honestly have no idea where to start and am getting more confused as time passes.
BIG__DOG
can you log into the Hitron CGNVM-2559 DMZ? if you can input the duma's wan ip address the hitron assigned it into the dmz.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 15, 2016 Administrators Share Posted September 15, 2016 From what I saw you should be able to set DMZ on that model. So just hook it up like your normally would, port 1 to port 1 and then put the R1 in the DMZ.
KurtK24
There are very limited settings in the control panel. Even with very limited knowledge I can usually figure stuff out on my own. Extremely busy at work right now and will probably have to put this on back burner for a few days. KurtK24
So I factory reset the R1 and got connected. But I have moderate NAT in game. Also had mod NAT when I was wired to ISP modem/router. Talked to ISP and there is absolutely no way to add any devices into DMZ. The only thing I can do is baseline the modem which will disable WiFi and then I have to get a Moca adapter to run the TiVo. Not real crazy about that option because everything works really well and the WiFi is top notch. Not to mention there are a few people in my house that would not be very happy if I started screwing it up. But I dont really want to play on mod NAT cause I know it will cause problems in parties and I am also afraid that when I hook my sons PS4 up one of them will show strict NAT. Going to forward the ports but I am not real confident its going to change anything. Edit: And I still had ports forwarded on ISP router. Once I deleted those all is good. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 22, 2016 Administrators Share Posted September 22, 2016 So there is a DMZ option correct? However they say you can't add anything in to it? Can you take a screenshot please because that doesn't sound right at all. If for some reason you're unable to do this you assuming you can port forward on it? Then port forward 1024-60000 on the ISP hub to the R1 and then let the R1 UPnP take care of it.
KurtK24
There is no DMZ mode on this router. Very minimal settings and had multiple discussions with ISP. But all is good after I did a factory reset and adjusted a few things in settings. So far so good.
