Adding friends to geofilter whitelist

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone - I have some questions on how to setup my router to allow me to use the geofilter with my pals stateside.

I have reviewed the tutorial at this location but it does skip over the exact sequence rather quickly:

https://netduma.com/features/allow-and-deny/

So here's my list of questions ...

1. How can I identify who my pals are from the geofilter screen? The host ID is a little vague, so a little info about this would help.

2. Assuming I can identify them can i select their host from the geofilter? This works for game hosts but it isn't always obvious for hosts that are not the game host. Again this could be butter fingers from me :/

3. Finally - when I select my pals should I simply set the quality bar to 100% or is there something I am missing?

Thanks for your reply(s)

Turn off your geo filter and then invite your friends to chat lobby or game without actually going into a game. They will appear as circles on your world map.

Click on them and give them a rating and then click on update (I think)

You can then turn geo filter back on and you host the party.
If they have dynamic Ip addresses as many people do then you may from time to time have to re add them to the list.

I don't really understand question 2.

Just to add to what bags said,I've always invited friends to a private match one at a time and click on their circle, name them (so you know who they are ) and give them a 100 % rating and click update. If you do it one at a time you'll always be sure you're clicking on the correct person.Yes it's a pain in the ass but you only have to do it once.

And I'm really sure what your second question is either.

Yes that would be the way to go about it.

Thanks for the responses - the private game approach seems like an obvious winner.

My second question related to whether I can always click on the circles that show up - sometimes I don't get the option to set a quality rating and update, instead I get the option to temp ban this host.

Looks like this is the difference between a dedicated server and a normal host:

Good to know :)

Private game is definitely the best idea!

You got it, would be a dedicated server and not your friend.

You don't need to rate them 100% just need to rate above the percentage that the green section covers in deny&allow.
