Device and setup question

Recommended Posts

Hi i was hoping for advice for my questions . I tried the netduma on the ps4 yesterday first time on black ops 3 and was dying so fast before i felt bullets hitting me sometimes .just want to check things make sure i have it set up properly

1 when i go to devices it says 2 devices connected via wired when i am only using 1 ethernet to my ps4 only

2 when i put my speeds in it asks do i want the router to automatically adjust speeds, yes or no ?

3 my ps4 is connected to the netduma wired and when i go to select service i have 2 nameless devices no ps4 option

4 any other settings tips that can help would be very welcome thanks

My settings

Bthh5 >>>netduma wired ps4 and a few wireless devices (phones and ipad)

77mb up 20 mb down

I have tried using cod ultimate profile with 70/70 yesterday and was dying ridiculously fast it is not down to skill as i have 2kd+ in all cod games . Most games i was pinging from netduma was 20-25 gameplay felt very smooth just dying when i am getting so many hit markers .

Hyper lane ps4

Ipv6 lan and wan disabled

And only settings in misc ticked are upnp , enable cookies , and both bleed and cloud settings ticked

First off, what's the second device that is showing up called? We would recommend using the auto-setup for your speeds; it should give you the best connection. We'd recommend setting your Geofilter distance to 1000 and your Ping Assist to 60 to connect to the best games. One of those nameless devices is likely the PS4. You should find the IP addresses of them in the device manager, then go to your PS4 network settings and see if the IP matches either of them.

It is saying that it is a tablet that is connected via a wired connection i dont own a tablet and i have only one ethernet cable coming out of the netduma and that is to my ps4

When i choose auto setup for my speeds it puts me at 100% upload and download , is this ok to be gaming on call of duty ?

You would still want to move to the sliders based on how much activity is in your home when you are gaming.  Think of the sliders like this:

  • If no one is home, you don't need as much slider because there isn't as much activity on your line.  You could probably get away with 90/90

  • When everyone is home, you need more slider to be able to protect your gaming session against random housemate induced spikes and chatter (opening/closing pages, scrolling Facebook, streaming Netflix/pr0n).  In this case, 70/70 would be a great place to START and then make small adjustments from there.

If they are any devices connected via wireless check the network settings on those and see if they match with that device. If the duma cannot determine how the device is connected it will default to saying it's wired. This is just an aesthetic.
