Chiver2007
Hello all, LONG time no see, had some stuff in real life that has kept me out of pocket for a long while. Curious on some things. While I was gone my family picked up one of the Google On-Hub router's (TP-Link version). They could not figure out the netduma since I was always the one handling that, but in my absence they needed something plug and play to work correctly. Some interesting thing I have noticed. WITH using the google router, modem ---> on-hub ---> 5 port gig switch -----> 50 ft cat 6 cable ----> 8 port gig switch ---> to xbox's / computers the speeds were KILLING it! Ive been back and done some testing, I was averaging around 650-750 MBS (I pay for a 1G down / 50 MB up), so I was ok getting up that high. Now, with me coming back and starting to game again, I re-connected the netduma. WITH the NetDuma router, modem ---> netduma ---> 5 port gig switch ---> 50 ft cat 6 cable ---> 8 port gig switch ---> xbox's / pc's etc, it dropped down to 250 mbs (still not to bad, but definitely lower then with the google router). My question, is it possible to somehow connect the netduma router with the google router, and ONLY use the NetDuma router for the QoS (mostly host filtering), and then be able to use the On-Hub router for hard-wire / WiFi since it provides much faster speeds??? Is there ANY combination of those that will allow me to use the host filter, but to get the speeds from the On-Hub?? And before anybody asks I have factory reset the netduma, and went through the initial setup again to make sure everything was correct. Good to see everybody again! Hope all as been well. I think that if you want to use the Netduma QoS completely then you will have to have every device connected to the Netduma rather than the other hub, otherwise any devices attached to the other hub will be outside of the Duma's QoS rules. You can still use the host filtering though of course, stick the Netduma in the DMZ of the other hub and then connect your gaming devices to the Netduma - you will lose the congestion control of any devices that are attached to the other hub this way but with that much bandwidth I don't think you'd have to worry too much about that. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 29, 2016 Administrators Share Posted May 29, 2016 Hey welcome back! As has been said above for QoS to work everything needs to be behind the router. Saying that though you should be able to achieve higher speeds than that through the duma if turbo & super turbo mode are on. However this would disable the congestion control anyway. So you could just use the duma for the Geo-filter. Chiver just add the google router into the mix. Plug it into your switch and only plug you ps4 into the duma and everything else into the google if you want your speed & geo-filter for the ps4. With those speeds you shouldn't even need congestion control. Your PIPE is so big you have more then enough room. "My opinion" I have been unable to get my asus router to work before the netduma... I am trying to get a 1 on 1 with frasher. People claim to have gotten it to work but I have not. Can you create a thread regarding your issues first please, we can then go to a 1 on 1 if needed
