Ace-Deucey
On my PS4 and Xbox One my download speeds are horrible. I have tried every suggestion I have seen on this forum for slow speeds and nothing improves it. I have re-booted the modem and router. I have tried every combination of checked and unchecked boxes on the Netduma. If I hook up my old Netgear WNDR4000 immediately my speed goes to 55 down and 4.5 up. I hook the Netduma up and I'm lucky to break 10 down and 2 up. It use to be like 25 down and 3 up which was somewhat livable but still not right. Lately its got worse and I didn't change anything on the Netduma. On my PC the speed tests are correct. They will record 60 down and 6 up. My ISP is TWC. My modem is my own Motorola Surfboard SB6141. I am completely lost.
Ramakant
Speed test on Ps4 will always be slower than actual. Make sure your Netduma is in DMZ in your main router.
Ace-Deucey
I use the Netduma as my main and only router. My confusion on the speed tests as I noted was when I use my Netgear router the speeds are 55 down and 4.5 up. If I hook up the Netduma they drop to 10 down and 2 up. I can leave it on for an extended period of time and it never goes up. As soon as I hook up my old Netgear it goes right back up to 55 down and 4.5 up. Spartacus
Try using the edge browser on the Xbox one and open http://fast.com -- what speed does it show?

Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 26, 2016 Administrators Share Posted May 26, 2016 Do the following: Reactive Algorithm 100% anti-flood Share excess enabled Reset device prioritisation & apply Disable IPv6 in WAN, LAN & misc Disable deep packet in misc Enable turbo mode Ensure the ethernet cables you're using connecting the R1 to hub & R1 to PC are Cat5e+/can handle your speeds. I would focus on a wired speed test from a PC rather than console 42 mbps That's good, the test via web browser is more accurate. You don't need much bandwidth for gaming either so you have plenty. Ace-Deucey
I'm using the Cat6 cable that came with the Netduma. Did all the other and no change but not sure what this is and why does my netgear show 55 down on psn and the netduma only 10? Reset device prioritisation & apply
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 27, 2016 Administrators Share Posted May 27, 2016 Can you try using a different cable to the one we provided please. Device prioritisation is found under congestion control. Reset it and redo the test. Console speed tests are quite inaccurate. Do a speed test from the console browser to be more accurate. As long as you're getting full speeds through a PC that it the most important thing. Gaming doesn't require much bandwidth.
Ace-Deucey
I understand they are inaccurate but just wonder why the Netduma is slower than the Netgear on the PSN speedtest. I changed the cable and it made no difference. The large game downloads are what concerns me about the slower speeds. I will try the rest later tonight. i did the sugestions and the speeds went up for a while and then went back to 10 down by the morning. Oddly enough if I run the PSN speed test through the Netduma wirelessly it jumps up to 47 down.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 31, 2016 Administrators Share Posted May 31, 2016 Can you change the port you're connecting the PS4 to please. Did you test with the console browser? I don't think your downloads will be effected, you should still be achieving full speeds. The fact it is high on wireless makes no sense but I've heard that before. Can you please set a static IP for the console as well as changing the DNS servers being used.
Ace-Deucey
The console browser was 42. You say Port. Do you mean the 192.168.88.XXX number or port like 3674. If the latter how would I do that. I did a game download wired and it told me 6 hours and the download was going slow and was going to take 6 hours. I switched it to wireless and it said it would take 55 minutes and it took 55 minutes. It seems like there is something with the wired setups interaction with PSN. I have slightly slower speeds on the Xbox One (39mb) but that would be fine if I could get that out of the PS4.

I think Fraser means the port in the back of the Netduma, the hole the network cable goes into, just in case one of yours has had a little spaz-out. Ace-Deucey
I redid the firmware for the PS4 - rebuilt the data base - dis the port switch . Getting 38-44 now. I will check tomorrow and see if it holds up.

Ace-Deucey
After my last post things went downhill. I started from scratch and the thing that instantly seemed to help was I went into the configuration for my Motorola SB6141 modem and did a reset to factory defaults (which I've never done) and then did the simple reset after that. Speeds are still not superb but better. Everything else connected to the Netduma seems to be running much smoother for now though. It may be something I should do periodically like rebooting a PC you keep on all the time.
