Will this set up cause issues? Modem - Netduma - Netgear

Recommended Posts

So I'm wondering if this will cause any latency or issues when gaming. I have a comcast modem/router combo that I have set to bridge mode. I will then connect the R1 to the modem and then have the Netgear router connected to the R1. The only other thing that will also be connected to the R1 will be my ps4. The Netgear router will be used for wifi, my Mac hard wired and my Netgear POE. Is this a bit of overkill? I use the POE for hardwired connections to my living room TV for streaming, Wii U and Xbox one all wired. I dont prefer wifi for streaming videos. What do y'all think?

that's how i've got mine set up, albeit with different equipment.

I've turned off the Duma wifi as I'm using the other one as an access point but i don't know if that's really necessary.

I was looking for a thread like this. I just purchased mine and I have it setup the same way. I have a Comcast Wireless Gateway setup in bridge mode. Attached is the Netduma with WIFI turned off and attached to the Netduma is my ASUS RT-68U. I was having problems with the Netduma signal is some portions of my home and the ASUS did a better job.

So my question is, is this an ok setup?

Should be fine, mine is set up like this:

ISP hub in modem mode (bridge / passthrough)

Then the Netduma (everything passes through this)

Then an Asus RT-N66U in Access Point mode, attached via ethernet to the Netduma (handling wifi and nothing else).

It works perfectly.

My issue wasn't wifi range it was simply because someone at my house dropped their phone which broke their 2.4Ghz receiver so they needed the 5Ghz from the Asus.
