PharmDawgg
Here is a 60min snipit. Comcast cable. Download/Up: 50/10 But I get 65/15. Ok guys let me have it. I need to improve my connection. I am going to conduct another tonight at around 8pm if my other family members will allow.
Zennon
You have around 5 ms of jitter with a few 10ms spikes and a max of 20ms the odd time. You need to test at peak time so 8 pm on wards to get a real look at the problem.
PharmDawgg
Thanks Z. AT&T is suppose to be installing Gigapower in my neighborhood so maybe that will decrease the number of people on my cable network.
Zennon
Cable inherently has jitter what ever the package is.

AnnonymouS
Buck, you need to change your DNS that is whats causing your connection problems
Alex49H
Lucky you Buck if you can get Gigapower! I only get their DSL service from AT&T but it is less jittery than Cox and yes it is your own line. Not sharing with the neighbors anymore!!! There are no fiber services in my area yet. Only in new construction communities. But fiber is the way! PharmDawgg
Buck, you need to change your DNS that is whats causing your connection problems What do you recommend AnnonymouS? Using something like namebench? Just curious.
AnnonymouS
https://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm Run DNS Benchmark it takes about 30mins , then pick the first 5 . Run PingPlotter on each DNS IP and the two that has the best connection use those. When you run Benchmark you can see those DNS on the GEO map of the NetDuma. Closest DNS servers doesn't mean the best connection, your looking for smooth and steady pings. Do not use open DNS nothing but problems
Apowell
How do you post a shot of 60 mins for the ping plotter test? Also, what format/image type does it need to be. I tried a screen shot on my recent post and it told me it wasn't allowed.

Apowell
Yeah I was just gonna do that. I didn't remember what I did before but it just popped into my head. Thanks man.
Zennon
Misinformation. Changing DNS does not stop a jittery cable line from jittering. Changing a DNS can lower your baseline ping slightly but no way can it stop ISP jitter. I use open DNS on an non jitter line, it adds no jitter because it only returns and IP from an address nothing more.
