SM961 Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 I set PA to 50ms but still connecting to higher pings. Is PA working? I'm connecting to over 100ms.
PharmDawgg Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 How large is your geofilter range and is strict mode on? One of these items is causing you to connect to those higher ping players.
PharmDawgg Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 What game are you playing? COD? Destiny? What is your base ping? Run internet diagnosis and there should be three ping values resulted. min/avg/max. The avg will be the base ping for your connection. You should set your ping assist to base ping + 10ms. Let us determine if PA is working by doing a test. Move your home location icon into the ocean, where there would be not players. Then set your ping assist value based on the instructions above. Also leave strict mode on. This will bascially have you searching for players based on ping only and not location. Which I believe is best anyway but that is a discussion for another time. After setting it up as above reboot the router by using the button under settings/miscellaneous. This should immediately save all your settings. Then play a few games and let us know if you are still getting exceedingly high pings. Based on these settings you should not get any player host greater than your set ping assist value.
SM961 Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 BO3 and 2. What happen if i don't use PA and leave at 0? 20 packets transmitted, 20 packets received, 0% packet lossround-trip min/avg/max = 13.310/18.122/35.526 ms
SM961 Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 Okay, so I tried a few games still goes 150+ I don't know what's wrong? I can barely shoot anybody all negative 6 kill to 25 death.
Limagreen Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Are you sure the service for your consol is enabled?
SM961 Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 Are you sure the service for your consol is enabled? 90% of the time I play S&D, so my ping is even higher than TDM.
PharmDawgg Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 If you set your ping to zero it is like basically turning it off. And with strict mode on you will only get player hosts within your geofilter circle only. Does your cloud settings under Settings>Miscellanous look similar to these?

SM961 Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 Not good, PA is not working for me it does not matter what I set it to, it won't give me good pings hosts.
PharmDawgg Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 May need to wait for one the admins to give some suggestions or even a 1on1. Sorry for the inconvenience.
SM961 Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 banning the servers I get better hit detection and low pings.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 4, 2016 Administrators Posted April 4, 2016 So it could be based on the inconsistencies of the servers based on your above comment. Your base ping varies by 22ms which is not good at all. It may be worth running a program called ping plotter over different times/days and collecting the evidence to take to your ISP to see if they can improve it. Are you using congestion control at all when gaming? If ping assist detects a game as being under your limit it will allow it, even for a split second. So you may be getting games then due to the server, your base ping etc it increases. Take a screenshot of a typical game ping.
SM961 Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 Okay, I will do that. Yes I use CC at 70 both.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 5, 2016 Administrators Posted April 5, 2016 Keep us updated!
SM961 Posted April 5, 2016 Author Posted April 5, 2016 One more question should I go netduma's or ps4 game ping? I thinks ps4 is always higher (ping).
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 6, 2016 Administrators Posted April 6, 2016 I would go with the duma ping personally
SM961 Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 Now that you say that I think that's where I have made the mistake because I always use the PS4. Ps4 is always higher.
SM961 Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 Another quick question, my setup is modem>netduma(bedroom)(no wifi) ps3, ps4, computer>2nd router(living room) Asus(wifi) computer #2 wired, ps3,Xbox 360,tablets and phones(wifi), Xbox one wired, will the second router Asus benefits from CC @ 70 still would work this way?

The in game ping is always higher yes and fluctuates quite a bit. We can't know exactly how they're calculating that. Your Asus is connected to the duma is that right? If yes then all devices going through the Asus will benefit from the congestion control as well yes.
SM961 Posted April 7, 2016 Author Posted April 7, 2016 Yes, that's what I thought. Thank you for your time and help.

Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 11, 2016 Administrators Posted April 11, 2016 Even with your jitter that is very high. I don't usually go off the in game ping but does it show the same sort of trend? Lots of big spikes of 100ms?
SM961 Posted April 11, 2016 Author Posted April 11, 2016 No, but with PA @ 50 I get pings over 100 sometimes. I can tell when I'm just can't shoot anybody.
