RyukDG
Guys, Just a quick question to see what you'll think about this. 130 ms ping via dedicated servers or 25 ms ping on p2p. What would you think is better because personally I feel p2p with lesser ping is much better than high latency dedicated server. -RyukDG

daz
Nope, not obvious for me therefore I asked. Pray tell. lower the ping the better it plays and lowering your ping is the whole point of the duma
RyukDG
lower the ping the better it plays and lowering your ping is the whole point of the duma This is also my assumption - what I wanted to know is in terms of maintaining the latency without other factors like packet loss, jittering or something else. Does a dedicated server keep some other factors in mind when selecting a bunch of people to play together? So when actually playing is it just my placebo that I do well when I have lower ping? Because a lot of games are moving to dedicated servers and forcing us to use them and in the end giving us abysmal pings so what kind of a strategy is this? A7Legit
Generally I'd say the lower ping server but if the ping difference is minimal then I'd recommend to take jitter into account.
RyukDG
My point is when I enable strict mode I am regularly at and around 17 to 50 ms ping and enjoy my games for the most part except for some laggy players who get added in somehow and this can get bothersome but that's ok I guess because I still get 8/10 very good games. To rephrase am I missing something by not playing on the dedicated servers that give an upwards of 130 ms ping but I never find "teleporters"
talbyfish
I ping 12ms to my local server and it unplayable. feels like am behind the other players. P2P on the otherhand just feels so much better
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 4, 2016 Administrators Share Posted April 4, 2016 Lower ping is always better lag wise. The difference between dedicated servers and P2P is that dedicated servers in theory should be more stable. With P2P you're at the mercy of other peoples bad internet. Good chance I get made host most of the time then for some reason it will swap host and his connection is terrible. As in everyone red barring in and out of the game. When I am host everyone has full stable connection all game..
