Okay, so now that I have my NetDuma working, I am under device manager and looking at the devices I have assigned to the duma router.

Dont laugh but how the hell do you figure out what these nameless devices are? Obviously its assigned an IP but I am pretty sure other than my Apple TV, I have everything connected and signed up?

So network is:

MacBook Pro

iPhone

iPad

XB1

Then two nameless devices that I have no clue what these could be?

How do you find out what electronics these ip address are assigned too?

Thanks yall,

D

There are a few ways to find out.

  1. Rename them to something temporary. Then on the devices that aren't show, start using internet and look at the network monitor to see which is using internet. You then know which device it is.
  2. Block the device and see which device loses internet.
  3. Match the IP addresses up to ones shown on the devices them selves.
  4. Match the MAC addresses up (which are shown in Settings >> DHCP lease).

There isn't really a 'nice' way to do it, lol.

I think we've all been there, at least those of us not born of the key&motherboard era.  LOL

I have used items 1 and 2 from Crossy's list on my own to determine what is what.  It's a basic, bare bones way of doing it, but it works.  ;)
