xara reacted to 648 USD - Wasted on DumaOS in DumaOS 4.0 - "Never Coming To The XR Series" - I PAID FOR DumaOS! SO I GET LAST YEARS UPDATES!
There Hi,
@Netduma Jack B
Thanks for the reply, though it left me feeling like you were aiming for sarcasm instead of solutions—something I didn’t quite expect from someone representing a company in a public forum. Let’s unpack a few things, shall we?
Just To Make Things Clear
Let’s practice some phonics together:
Netgear: That’s “Net-Gear,” as in the hardware company. DumaOS: That’s “Dew-Mah-OS,” as in your software. Now, do these sound like the same thing? No.I didn't think so either. If you think they do , just ask around and see what others say captain obvious.
But here’s the kicker: they are inextricably linked when it comes to the XR series, like peanut butter and jelly—except this sandwich has been sitting out for over a year.
So, when you clarify, “We’re not the same company as Netgear,” it’s a bit like David denying he knows Goliath after taking the slingshot to the head.
Question 2: The Blame Game
Your explanation boils down to:
DumaOS: “We’re ready to go, software’s done.” Netgear: “Sorry, can’t find our testing team to rubber-stamp your work.” I mean, really? Netgear, the world’s largest router vendor, can’t allocate resources for firmware testing? Sounds more like a power play than a resourcing issue. A year-long delay suggests something bigger—maybe a lesson in “who’s the boss” on the food chain? I’d love to hear what actually happened in those “collaborative” meetings. Maybe the sword-fighting contests ran long?
Meanwhile, XR users are caught in the crossfire, left with incomplete updates and vague promises. If the goal was to inspire confidence in your partnership, this situation has been a masterclass in how not to.
Question 3: The Abandonment Game
You say: “We’re not abandoning the XR series; it just won’t get DumaOS4.”
Translation: “We’ll keep the lights on but don’t expect renovations.”
That’s reassuring. Will DumaOS5 be coming, or should we brace ourselves for another round of waiting games and finger-pointing?
Final Thoughts
Your opening response was, let’s say, cheeky. I appreciate a bit of wit, but it landed more like condescension. So, I figured I’d return the favor.
That said, if my tone ruffled any feathers, let me extend an olive branch. My frustration comes from a place of being a loyal customer who expected better from a product labeled as "cutting edge."
Looking forward to your reply—preferably one that matches the professionalism your customers deserve.
What's really going on?
Thanks for Reading,
Hope were still friends

Dear Fraser, since you do not want to respond/answer, i think some else could from the Netduma Team could shed some light on this?
I hope this message finds you well.
I’d like to express my frustration with the situation surrounding the XR series routers (Specifically the XR500 and XR1000), as it feels like we, as customers, have been left behind while new products and updates are being prioritized for the R-series.
When I purchased the XR500 and XR1000, I did so believing the promise of a cutting-edge, future-proof gaming experience powered by DumaOS. At the time, I invested nearly $500 into the two routers, fully expecting that the firmware updates would continue to enhance their functionality and gaming features. However, the reality has been far from that expectation. Despite being marketed as premium gaming routers, the updates have been inconsistent, delayed, and in some cases, non-existent.
Now, with the introduction of the R3, it feels as though customers like myself who purchased the XR series are being left behind. I understand the need for new products, but I cannot help but feel that the focus on the R3 has effectively sidelined the XR series, especially with the news that DumaOS 4.0 will not be available for the XR series. This is incredibly disheartening, as it appears that users who invested in the XR routers are now facing outdated firmware, while the R-series is receiving the latest features.
I believe this situation could have been handled differently, particularly given that Netgear is not a small company. If Netgear is truly committed to its customers, particularly those who have invested in the XR series, it should not deny them access to the latest firmware updates that bring the promised gaming features. Denying these updates is not only poor customer service, but it also undermines the trust that customers have placed in the brand.
If the focus is indeed shifting entirely to the R-series, it would be much more transparent to acknowledge this and provide clear communication to customers regarding the future of the XR series. It’s frustrating to feel like I’ve been caught in a cycle of purchasing products that, at the end of the day, are rendered obsolete faster than I could have ever anticipated.
As it stands, I’m left wondering when—or if—there will be any updates for the XR series to bring them up to the same level of functionality as the R3. The lack of clarity and consistent communication about this issue is disappointing.
I’d also like to raise the point that Netgear’s partnership with DumaOS should be focused on providing a top-tier experience for all users, regardless of which series router they own. Denying updates or withholding features for older products feels like a missed opportunity for both Netgear and DumaOS to show their commitment to their customer base.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
Best regards,
L2W

xara reacted to 648 USD - Wasted on DumaOS in DumaOS 4.0 - "Never Coming To The XR Series" - I PAID FOR DumaOS! SO I GET LAST YEARS UPDATES!
HAPPY FRIDAY! . 🥳🤩
Now that's about as nice as it gets.
"JUMPS IN THE SHALLOW END [HEAD FIRST]" 👀
Alright, @Netduma Fraser -🤬
Brace Yourself , This is not directed towards you personally, i mean you personally took this job , so give me as personal as it get's with DumaOS?
I spent nearly **$500** on 2 XR routers (XR500/XR1000) because I believed the hype: “The ultimate gaming router powered by DumaOS.” But instead of cutting-edge features, I got stuck in a never-ending cycle of broken promises and half-delivered updates. Now I’m hearing that to get the latest and greatest features, I have to drop another **$200** on the R3? So, I’m out almost **$700** just to stay current? Seriously, why did I even buy into the XR series if the “future-proof” promise only applies to someone else’s hardware? Oh wait ... That's your own hardware (SOLD SEPERATELY)
And let’s not ignore the elephant in the room: **DumaOS 4.0.** The fact that it’s “never coming to the XR series” 🤯says everything I need to know. Why invest in a product that’s been abandoned before it’s even reached its potential? Meanwhile, R-series users are enjoying the full experience, and XR users are left to rot on outdated firmware, i mean "Based on IOU's" and "We don't have a beta or know when it will be available" IN any other company - SAME SCENERIO. [Hey bruce, "rolls chair around with a quick swivel then pivot" , What's up Chad? Where we at on the beta for the LOL10000PEW's Firmware? Oh One second Bruce, "rolls chair around witha quick swivel then pviot" keys clacking on keyboard. Whips its backaround. So Bruce, were looking like 2 weeks tops. Thanks CHAD! . Oh one can dream .... I mean NETGEAR doesnt have to APPROVE the Beta Versions. Just DUMAOS right> . By the time we get DumaOS 3.3, the R-series will probably be running on version 6.0, complete with features we were promised from the start. (A Box can be so misleading)
It’s painfully clear this was the plan all along: 🤡
1. **Market the XR series** as cutting-edge gaming routers.
2. Promise firmware updates that never arrive.
3. Launch the R3 and make it the real star of the show, while XR users are told to sit tight.
4. Leave XR users permanently one step behind.
Let’s face it, this is a **brilliant marketing scheme**: 🥸
- Netgear pulls in customers with promises of premium gaming features powered by DumaOS.
- Updates for XR routers get delayed indefinitely.
- DumaOS shifts focus to their R-series, forcing loyal XR users to spend more money just to stay relevant.
What’s next?🤑
The **XR2000** in 2030?
The **XR-StillOn3.3** in 2035?
By 2040, we’ll get the **XR-HopeYouDidn’tWant4.0** with a tagline that reads, “Firmware coming soon… we promise.”
At this rate, we’ll have routers named after the stages of grief: 🙄
- XR1000: **Denial** – “They’ll release the update any day now!”
- XR2000: **Anger** – “Why am I still waiting for this update?!”
- XR3000: **Bargaining** – “Maybe if I tag Netduma everywhere, they’ll care.”
- XR4000: **Depression** – “Still stuck on 3.3, but I’m too tired to care anymore.”
- XR5000: **Acceptance** – “Guess I’ll just buy an R3 and move on with my life.”
And the best part? This isn’t just disappointing—it’s insulting. It feels like we were used to build a customer base for DumaOS, only to be abandoned the second they decided to roll out their own hardware. “Thanks for your money; here’s an outdated firmware to remember us by!” 😭
Honestly, it’s like buying a sports car only to find out it’s missing the engine. “Oh, you wanted speed? That’s in the R3 model. Would you like to upgrade?” At this point, the only thing “cutting-edge” about the XR series is how it cuts into my wallet. 🤣
So, Fraser, where does this leave us?👀 Because from where I’m standing, XR users are nothing more than an afterthought in Dumas's bigger plan.
Convert the customers of XR Series (NETGEAR) to R Series (YOUR COMPANY's ROUTER)
Slowly pick off the customers of NETGEAR and take them all for yourself. Brilliant!
Final Note - Since R3 is already out and kind of "meh" as is been quite some time that the "hype" of the R3 is kind of no more. (No disrespect, just in regards to a WIFI 6 Gaming Router to Others out their)
When should i expect to purchase the R4-Wifi 7 - A router that can compete with todays Gaming Routers ( i wont list your competition, but GOOGLE will!)
- Spoiler Alert - Check the "specs sheet" between an R3 vs XR1000
It all lies in the software.... ultimately DumaOS
Seriously - Wallet in Hand. I'm ready to buy today
P/S - Don't get to this point and be salty😅. This is easily my way of letting my opinion get the best of me. Notice i didn't mention you (except Frazier) , so don't take anything i said personal. That goes for all (including Frazier) - " This was meant in no way shape or form to single any(one-person) out OR in no way to be disrespectful" Its a forum, for this exact reason. 😶
LETS TALK ABOUT IT!
Thank you for your time ,

Another award for the world's worst router and worst router software......
You can't even make this s*** up...
Literally 50 devices and device manager 40 of them unnamed probably the same three devices... Awesome job...
So I hit remove offline devices... Right? Why not you baked it into the software? How can I be an idiot?...
You know how cuz I trust these fools with their software
So now when I go into qos I get device not found
I go into any other menu. I get crazy errors that are like in code
Then I read online. Try the net Duma OS app for Android
Awesome guess what
You suck
Can't log in. Can't do it manually. Can't f****** log in for an hour no matter what I try
And somehow locks me out of my router for 5 minutes at a time even though the passwords are correct
How the hell is this company still standing
So now I got to sit here factory reset this thing and go through all the settings again because I can't trust you
I can't trust backing your s*** up cuz you suck net Duma
Horrible. I got to do this manually
$300 router
I want to take this thing and attach it to a chain and swing it like a mace hitting every one of your stupid board members in their f****** face.

OKAY FRASIER LETS SEE WHAT YOU CANT DO FOR ME ...I've owned and used the xr1000 for about 3 years, in those 3 years I've had one update in those 3 years I've had the same problems with no fixing. No updates to fix. No suggested fixes worked. Nothing works. The infrequency of updates for this terrible router is laughable. Do any quick searches on Google and you will come across all of us with the same problems that I've had for the last 3 years.....
PROBLEMS.
1.
No matter what computer, what router? What network connection? I use Chrome, Firefox, edge. The OS the GUI takes literally 4 minutes to show up.... And whenever I had apply I usually have some sort of message saying we have to wait for the rapp. Never knowing if anything was applied.
2. Various aspects of this router don't work for instance... Congestion control download 100% upload anything under 100%. My download is affected... Just to test put your upload to two megabytes and then recheck your download speed. Why is your download speed changing it shouldn't.. you know why it changes. Dumaos sucks and you guys couldn't care less cuz we already gave you money.
3.
Qos.
Finally, after 3 years I see a listing for call of duty that doesn't say console only, doesn't work... Duma OS classified games takes control and it's clearly missing packets...
My network performance in multiple games is a thousand times better with qos off and with congestion control off...
Tell me again I why I purchase this router?
So I cannot use the features I purchased it for?
Great job Frazier
3. More device manager no matter how many times I named devices, they're Mac don't change their IPs don't change and they're still all unnamed devices. I have 20 unnamed devices that I've named lol but they're just still unnamed. Nothing changes in the devices but if one goes off and on the router has no idea who it is anymore even though I already told it what to name the IP and Mac but nope unnamed devices
4.
Qos distribution.
It says it deals with percentages, right? So the higher number is a higher percentage, thus meaning more bandwidth?
Wrong
No matter where I set those distributions I get about 600 MB down... If I reset the distributions I get $900 down... They're all at 6. :00 I get 900 then I put my computer up higher I get less download. I put my computer at a lower number I get less download
Make it make sense razor.
5.
I have three computers in my household, multiple devices and I'm honestly pretty sure the only thing that hasn't been updated is this router.
Actually no I'm lying. There were two updates but one of them was a b******* update that didn't fix anything. 56. First firmware Then 64 or something now 72
6. This is a $300 router
Congestion control doesn't work
Qos doesn't work
Traffic distribution doesn't work
Your GUI hardly works
Every time I hit apply I get an error about Rapp
I've reset this firmware. I don't even know how many times factory reset software reset the reset button. Not to mention this is the second router of the xr1000 . Yeah I even tried different hardware. The problem is your router or your Duma OS.
I've owned this router in two zip codes. Two different internet providers. Same problems, different computers same problems.
Tell them to Update the firmware FRASIER.
Never buying Netgear or Duma OS again.
300 bucks for this
Lol
Oops forgot about Geo location
Guess what else doesn't work?
I can set the entire planet Earth for my geo location and it still won't connect to a game lololol but as soon as I turn this s*** off I'm good.
Now I've only tried it with call of duty but that's why I bought this router. So it's not serving its intended purpose. Don't tell me try another game. That's not what you sold me. You didn't sell me a router that only works for some games.lol.
And now you guys are sponsoring Black ops with your Duma OS. Hilarious. Got to warn them by something else. You guys don't care.

Time they release the beta they will be newer better quality routors out atm the XR1000 duma app is terrible slow as hell , half the stuff never works qos for example better of disabling it provides worse performance ... Or if you run a few tests its never accurate .. This is my first gaming routor never buying a netgear or duma again nothing but issues from start to finish .. The last decent update was like 2 years ago since updates have been poor with very min done within the updates

xara reacted to kritikal in XR1000 is just a target now
Worst product I've ever purchased in the space to be honest. Insanely laggy and borderline unusable UI at some points. Went to the effort of re-flashing it to help with it's speed as others have suggested but a week later and it is as slow as ever. I don't think my QoS even works and neither does the UPnP. Can't even manually forward ports if i wanted to. If you get it into a working order and don't have to ever log into it again it may be fine HOWEVER my WiFi network started to just die randomly and dupe IP's on devices A LOT.
Honestly even just how laggy the UI is is reason enough for me to want to get rid of it as someone who is somewhat of a power user.
I can understand Duma has had issues with pushing firmware with Netgear - but this product is a complete dud. DO NOT BUY IT.
-
xara reacted to noobfodder in XR1000 is just a target now
I bought my XR1000 almost a year ago, hoping to see some benefits in creating random matchmaking in Warzone, Call of Duty, and other shooters. Unfortunately, all the router has done is throttle my connection by 30% and introduce additional packet loss. I've been waiting since August 2023 for this new Beta, but its all lies, smoke and mirrors. There is no Beta, the hardware has been abandoned for the R3.
Going to do a review of the X1000, demonstrating the issues, then probably put some 12 ga slugs through it because that'll generate a better ROI (and won't make me feel guilty) vs selling it on craigslist to some sucker.
Never touching NetDuma again.

xara reacted to Jackal235 in Request access to DumaOS 3.3 Beta Testing/XR1000
The netduma luke’s post appeared on December 2021. That is almost 3 years ago. Since then, you yourself, number of times have been telling customers that xr1000 firmware is coming: “soon” , “next month “ , “next year “ and my favourite “ netduma doesn’t give EToA”.
There is a time limit when you can stop call it a delay and start to call it a scam.

I would love to know as well. Owning a XR1000 is a laughing stock, WORST supported router, evident even the lower models get more support, clown world activities. I just play on ISP router rather than deal with Dumas. Never again!
-
xara reacted to BSilverthorn in owning xr1000 is joke right now
Yes, it is the worst netgear router I have ever owned. Wish I would have returned it!
I have to reflash the firmware often, DUMAOS not loaded 5 to 6 times a year, along with rapps not loading etc... I should have never sold the XR500, it was for the most part rock solid. I have told many to pass on XR1000 series. I don't blame duma though, these guys up here try to help.
Hopefully 3.3 will help this old dog in so many ways, someday.
These are my icons right now lol, I just dont have time to reflash it again. I'm back to this again after reboot as well: Wan IP is a 10. and sub net is differnet as well. May not wait on 3.3 and just go get a new router at microcenter.
-
xara reacted to craiga79 in owning xr1000 is joke right now
I have to agree. My XR1000 needs a full reset and re-built far too often. If Netgear are stalling on a firmware release, can Netduma give us an unofficial/beta/unsupported/whatever firmware similar to the support given to the XR500?
I'm no longer even interested in chasing new features, I just want the thing to work more reliably and do the job it was bought to do.

The 1000 will be receiving 3.3 soon so not to worry on that front and we are looking at the PPPoE/QoS issue on all platforms.

half year passed and 1.0.0.68 firmware is messy as hell, spitting bugs with RAPP
I know u guys are tired of nighthawk, but this is nonsense...
can anyone recommend some nice routers?
