Did you take the time to read through the thread? Traffic prio isn’t the end all, be all. For a lot of us it’s actually making things worse these days. If you’re experiencing “shoot first, die first” then maybe you’re on the wrong side of lag comp, which traffic prio will not fix...
-
It only stays constantly lit if you’re prioritizing the game servers (30,000-45,000). 3074 etc is for Xbox live. You should notice it light up when first launching the game when it’s contacting the servers maybe even between matches if I remember correctly, but it will not stay lit long. Mine didn’t. Removed the rule because I noticed little difference.

It really just depends on what you mean by “correct”. When I was using traffic prio i unchecked DumaOS games. Lately I’ve been using nothing but port forwarding and I’m still debating using that. The correct settings are the ones that work best for your personal connection.
-
Thank you. Do you personally use port forwarding?
-
This absolutely works for me. I don’t even use geo filter any longer. No special settings needed. I am using port forwarding and upnp is off. I’m wondering if I should disable the rules and turn upnp back on. What do you guys use on that front?

Hahahaha. This will spark the whole console vs pc war 🤣. I use mouse and keyboard exclusively and I can tell you with all honesty, it’s very hard to compete with the aim assist console gets. I know it’s necessary in order for us to play together, but man it’s like a soft aim bot. I watch killcams of ppl tracking me through walls, snapping on me and killing me when I had the jump on them. Dude came into a room and I was aware he was coming. He proceeded to come into the room, jump, kill me and someone else. I watch the killcam and he never missed a shot and barely took any damage. Mind blown. Lag comp? Aim assist? I don’t even know at this point. We both shot at him and both died lol. I’m going to try QOS completely off and a couple other settings today. I’m just looking for a consistent experience with half decent hit reg. Oh just a quick comment/question. They claim a lot of the servers marked “peer” are actually dedicated servers, but when players leave and join it severely effects the connection. Wouldn’t that not be the case on a dedicated server? That’s another issue I’ve noticed. I’ll start a game off on an absolute tear, opposing team will have ppl quit, and once new ppl join I can no longer kill a single person, which in turn causes me to quit....

You seem to just get it. Nothing will magically make you a god at the game. Idk if all the sweats are in league play now, or if they toned down the sbmm, but I no longer feel like after a few good games I can no longer compete. I may just be getting better at the game, and those lobbies that were brutal before, just aren’t as bad. Naturally you’d get better at a game having played for 3-4 hours a day. My map awareness and general understanding of how the game flows has helped me get 5-6 less deaths a match and 5-6 more kills. So maybe that’s it. I still run into the unkillable person per lobby, but at this point that’s just par for the course. When traffic prio was working my hit reg was great and consistent. That’s the biggest problem I face now. Consistency. I get absolutely melted and try the same gun, same attachments, and it’s like I’m shooting marshmallows. The point blank kills are maddening because for me on pc, the closer I am to an enemy, the less my bullets register. 🤦🏽♂️ I can’t try fun creative gun variants. Task force barrel is a must, yet I get pooped on by ppl using attachments I can’t even think about using. Lol. Turning off cross play helps with the aim assist snapping deaths and getting locked on through walls, but it takes FOREVER to find a match, and the try hards use controllers on pc. Can we get input based matchmaking pls? Sigh. The cod struggle is real.

Absolutely this. The lower ping lobbies are the worst for me. Idk why because ping is supposed to be “king”, but I’ve found 40ish ping is the sweet spot for me personally. I don’t need any special settings. Games around 40 ping give me very consistent hit reg. Games with 30 ping and below and I can’t kill a guy from 2ft away. I played all night to reach this conclusion. 🤷🏽♂️
-
Yep. Can confirm lol. It seemed better for a few matches but overall unstable. I’m going to continue to test.

I live in the United States and it seems to have improved my gameplay. Namely it doesn’t take as many bullets to kill someone it seems. He didn’t mention whether his share excess was on or off, so I assumed it was the default, which is on for both upload and download.

I play pretty often, and of all the games, that one has always felt the most fair as far as gun fights go. I never really felt I was losing gun fights based on connection. Lately tho? Holy cow! My aug downs ppl with two bursts. It’s unreal. Same servers I normally play on. Maybe firmware 205 is just more stable for my connection. (Cable internet from suddenlink) at first I thought the new firmware sucked except for my connection not dropping every few hours, but after going through all my settings again and getting everything dialed in, it’s great. That or an update to cod itself. Something has caused my bullets to register much more consistently. That’s what’s been the most important. The consistency. I don’t even check my geo filter any longer to see where I’m playing. I know it will only connect me to servers either in my circle, or within my ping assist threshold, and every server I connect to lately runs the same, despite my ping to the servers using ping heat map, bring higher than they ever used to be.
-
That’s the way it works. The amount of devices on my network, 98% is the sweet spot. The diff in bandwidth my devices get using 98% vs 100% is negligible, so yea technically I could keep them at 100%. Regardless my hit detection is still the best it’s ever been. It’s even better in MW since the maps and TTK are so much better. Occasionally I’ll get on a server that’s less than optimal and I can notice a very slight difference, but overall I am very happy with the hit registration across both games, across multiple servers.
-
For some reason 98% is the magic number for my connection. I have no idea why to be honest, but after trying from 100 to 0 in increments of 5, 98 works the best.
-
Ok ladies and gentlemen idk if they fixed the hit detection issue on pc, but my hit detection has been absolutely brilliant like “back in the day” when I first tried port prio. I’ve changed absolutely nothing on my end and I’ve played at least 20 games across servers from Texas to Cali, to Oklahoma with consistent results across all. I haven’t had to deny a server all evening. Kinda makes me want to remove all my denies and start over. For reference my congestion control sliders are set at 98% up and down with never selected. My bandwidth allocation flower has all values equal. Share excess is not checked for up or down. NO traffic prio. I’m forwarding the ports activision lists. Upnp is on. Weird I know but works best for my setup. 🤷🏽♂️ DumaOS classified games is on. Geo filter is set to about 500 miles around where I personally live. I think that about covers it. It’s so good right now I hope I don’t have to reboot my router and I hope there’s no update to the game. 🤣 I’m working on lmg’s right now and the M60 is making ppl quit the lobby. I hope y'all have as much luck as I’ve had because this came out of nowhere. 😳

Bottom section of QOS.

You need to put them under traffic prioritization not traffic controller.

Lag compensation is real. When I run my full speeds, 740 down and 40 up I am regularly the host and can kill absolutely no one. I’m behind everyone by a mile on the killcam. Playing on the exact same server with my connection gimped to the point I can almost not load the images on the blizzard app, I can tell I’m the one ahead. Several times ppl would shoot at me first and I’d kill them anyway. I’m by no means a pro player but I’ve played enough to know when I should win or lose a gun battle. So I’m happy in a sense with where I can get on the lag compensation scale, but it’s still taking me WAY too many bullets to kill someone. To be more precise, the closer I am to my target, the less my bullets register. I haven’t attempted my shotgun camo for this very reason. My type 63 is killing ppl across the map with two shots. Let me round a corner and put three into someone’s chest. I die. Watch the killcam and they took NO or very little damage. No way I missed at that range. This game is so connection based it’s unreal. I’ve started a match off with a 10 kill streak and should have had the game of my life, only for ppl to rage quit and what I can only assume is a host migration, and all of a sudden I couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn, and it’s a struggle to go positive. Granted the ppl who joined may be better players, but that shouldn’t cause me to completely forget how to aim and kill ppl. As if lag compensation isn’t enough, we have sbmm putting us into considerably higher ping lobbies for the sake of “balance” and “fairness”. I’m trying to achieve the connection I see others have who kill me in 4-6 bullets vs the 10-13 I’m having to put into them using the same gun and same attachments. I live in Louisiana and try to play exclusively on Texas servers, to which I have the lowest ping, o distance to server shouldn’t be my issue, unless of course they live in the same city as the server? Idk. All I do know is once upon a time I was happy with my connection to the game, and now I am not. Nothing changed on my end. I am getting constant total internet disconnects on 379, so I’m going to upgrade now, factory reset, and see if I can’t get an acceptable connection to Cold War.
-
Thank you for posting all your settings. Hopefully between the community we can find settings that are universally beneficial. I’m also experiencing frequent disconnects with the 379 firmware, but am wary to upgrade due to the issues ppl are reporting. I’ve went through the gamut of things I normally try to get my hit detection back on track and nothing is working. How an update to the game can change things so much I’ll never know. Currently I’m using traffic prio, bufferbloat sliders at 40% download and 20% upload, port forwarding the ports activision says use, distribution all even on the flower, share excess unticked on both, upnp off.
-
Thanks a ton. I have not upgraded to the latest firmware. I’m still on 379. I’ll give this a go and see if things improve. 🤞🏽
-
Just for some context what are your internet speeds? Under bandwidth allocation do you have share excess upload and download checked or unchecked? Are you using port forwarding? Are you using upnp? Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to get my connection back to normal. I have gigabit internet from suddenlink but my actual speeds are about 740 down and 40 up.
-
I hate others are having these issues but I’m glad it’s not isolated to only my end. I’ve tried everything I know to try and I can’t get any improvement. My ping is also considerably higher to the Cold War servers than it has been previously. I’ve forced cloud update and everything. How does the hit detection go from brilliant to utter trash? #soconfused
-
Hit detection on pc for Cold War has been absolutely horrendous as of late. Maybe because I’m working on tactical single shot rifle camo at the moment and the full auto weapons somewhat hid it, but the closer I am to an enemy the more my bullets simply don’t register. I’m bout at my wits end. 🤦🏽♂️ My shotguns are broken as well. Switch to it for an up close engagement and simply “whiff” with a point blank shot. Anyone have any updated settings to share? I’m still using traffic prio 3074:30000-45000, and the other norms. Seems every update they release puts me back to square one.
-
For me everything went to crap after the last game update. Not the one we just got today or yesterday but some previous update completely ruined my experience and I hadn’t changed a single setting. I’m spending more time tweaking to get it playable, then I am playing the actual game. Sucks.
-
Interesting and simple. I’ll give it a go. What do I have to lose? Lol. Since you’re not using a netduma router do you just play on whatever servers you’re connected to, or does the router you do use have some sort of geo filter or equivalent to filter the servers you play on?
