MW2 Shoot First Die first? how to fix this?
Kfetish replied to ownal0t's topic in Call of Duty Support
It’s weird because I have found the servers that are between 30-40 ms on the heatmap give me the best connection, but my ping in game reads the same. Perhaps I should try higher ping lobbies one more time. Can’t hurt. Thank you for the info. -

Interesting. I’ll keep digging and attempting to crack this code that is COD. It’s honestly infuriating to have to do all these things just to get a fair shake during gun fights. Smh. Lately it’s been back to WTF, head scratching moments for me. -

Does anyone know when lag compensation is determined? Is it when you launch the game or in the pre game lobby? Just curious. -
MW2 Shoot First Die first? how to fix this?

So just an update fwiw. The game for me recently has been the opposite of what most ppl are reporting. For me the game has ran better than ever. I’m not saying I don’t have a match or two where I’m like WTF, but my overall experience has been positive. My router settings are pretty much the total opposite of what I was using prior to get good hit reg. So after a factory reset I now have upnp enabled, both upload and download share access are ticked, no rules in traffic prio, duma classified games and work from home are both off. No ports forwarded, nothing in dmz. My congestion control sliders are both set to 70 and always. My particular setup may differ from others. I use an asus router for my home and the r2 for my pc and ps5. The best part about these pretty much default settings is that the game runs the same whether I play solo or with friends. With my prior settings it was godly at times solo but almost unplayable when I’d join up with friends. I hope this can help others. Especially since quite a few ppl are saying it’s been worse for them lately. -

You’re right I did have access. After installing and factory resetting when I go to ping heatmap I get the error “uncaught typeerror: cannot read properties of undefined (reading onready) -

So here’s the latest on my end. I apologize in advance if it’s a bit long winded. MW2 ran so terribly for me on pc no matter what settings I tried, despite Cold War running flawlessly. I had my pc connected to my r2 and all my other household devices running thru my asus ax-1100. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a ps5 so I bought MW2 and decided to hook it up to the r2 and start tinkering with settings. Between my settings and the broken aim assist the game ran better than ever. I went from going 4-16 to going 16-4. Then the update happened. All my friends play on pc and play warzone so in order to be in discord with them I play warzone on pc and not ps5. I usually get my ass stomped by shoot first die first, but I like to play with friends so I just deal. To my surprise warzone hit reg felt much better. Figured it was a once off tho lol. A few games later the same thing persisted. At this point I said I’ve got nothing to lose by trying TDM. If it sucks I won’t play more, if it’s better, win win. IT IS SO MUCH BETTER FOR ME PERSONALLY. I’m playing on pc and I’m not using the r2 (except my ps5 is still solely connected to it). I’m not using any qos or anything. Don’t get me wrong, I still join games in progress and get destroyed, but my overall experience is much better. Idk what they changed but I like it. I’m really tempted to hook my pc back up to the r2 so I can choose the exact servers I’d like to play on, but if it ain’t broke….. idk. Let’s just hope the next patch doesn’t undo everything lol. -

My ps5 is the only thing connected to the r2. I’ll have to try turning qos off and see if there’s any improvement. Has anyone tried only lowering dl and keeping upload high? I’m going to try that as well. Most of the morning I’ve been trying to determine if playing on the 18ms server near me is better than the 30-50ms servers around the u.s. -

No worries. Just was curious. I’ll also give it a go and report back. -

@Seye have you by any chance tried these settings on warzone and if so how did you fare? Multiplayer actually seems fair now. I can’t ask for anymore than that from any COD game. -
My setup is similar to that. Everything is connected to my asus router either through wifi or Ethernet except my pc. My pc is hardwired to the r2. The geofilter works perfectly for mw2 for example. The only issue I’ve experienced so far is Tuesday morning my r2 no longer had internet connection but the asus did. When I attempted to enter the duma os I got a message along the lines of “this site can’t be reached”. A factory reset solved the problem. Not quite sure what happened but with only one device connected it’s not too much trouble to just redo everything. If it happens again I may have to do a lil more research and find a more permanent solution.

Yes the WAN port of the r2 is connected to a LAN port on the asus. I figured the problem out just by revisiting the steps. Thank you for the quick response and great tip about the app sharpz44.

I have a netduma r2 connected to the LAN port of an asus ax1100. I have the WAN ip put in the dmz of the asus router as instructed. Everything seems to be working as it should except I’m unable to access the asus router settings page from my pc, which is plugged into the r2 by Ethernet. By comparison my laptop CAN access the asus router page when connected to the asus router by Ethernet. I’m assuming I have missed a setting somewhere. Could anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you in advance.

Who said anything about pc? I didn’t
-
That’s essentially all ports. That’s why it was stated to just place your console in the dmz.
-
I’ve had zero problems with the router. Everything is pretty much self explanatory. There’s tons of tutorials and videos for every feature. What are you wanting the router to do that it’s not doing then? I only said what I said because you mention warzone specifically. I play warzone and Cold War and have zero issues aside from the usual cod bs that has NOTHING to do with my r2...
-
A miracle like the r2 is going to make them better at call of duty. There’s a TON of info on this thread that covers every possible setting you could imagine, none of which will make you a better player or make your connection godlike. What it can do and what all us cod players want is a somewhat fair and consistent connection. It allows me to pick what servers I’d prefer to play on, which is a huge advantage itself, but I don’t even use geo filter anymore. One of the other contributors doesn’t even own a netduma router, but has offered connection insight that has been invaluable. I just think some ppl need to have more realistic expectations. Warzone is a mess in general right now between the Cold War integration and the increasingly lower and lower ttk with each weapon release. Add cheaters to the mix and you’ve got a frustrating mess.
-
I swear ppl but these routers expecting miracles....
-
Call of duty for sure because of the lag compensation system in place, which punishes those with a superior connection.
-
I use the same settings for CW, MW, and WZ. Honestly right now the Warzone meta and ttk have it in a bad place. That and the cheaters seem to trump my connection. I’m not saying CW and MW are perfect, I still run into a player per lobby that’s unable to be killed, but overall my connection and hit reg are the most consistent when I simply throttle my speeds. I’m personally not using traffic prio of any sort and I no longer use geo filter because 9/10 times I’m thrown into a lobby between 30-60ms which play about the same for me, which is nice because I find matches quickly and don’t have to deal with it blocking servers. Even the over seas servers aren’t terrible, with the occasional exception, in which case I just block a bad one if I come across it.
-
Me too. As I said before. I use no special settings. I no longer even use geo filter.
-
😳 care to share?? Lol
-
Just for reference the ping heat map shows my ping to those servers at about 40-44ms. Which in game translates to about 50-60ms.
-
Listen to him. Pls read what I said about lag comp. I’m telling you I use no special settings and don’t even use geo filter any longer. It almost always puts me in lobbies between 30-60 ms and that’s perfect for my connection. The number one thing you needs to do IMO is get on the right side of lag comp. I feel like I’m the one at an advantage now, and I’m not using traffic prio at all....
