Od1n reacted to fakkel in ANNOUNCEMENT: The Netduma R2 is here
There is a hugeeee difference between free shipping and €20 I can't find a single other company that charges €20 when it the product has to ship to a neighbour country.... I dont live on another continent!

I've got some more information for you. It still does run about the same speed - this is the same on the XR routers as well. However, we have an idea we are looking into on how we can massively improve this. Once it is ready we'll provide an update for free via the Rapp store.
With QoS on it can reach 300-400mbps currently but we're looking into optimizing this further to improve the max throughput. With QoS off it can reach near gigabit speeds.

It's suitable for a large house and as the WiFi is better it will have better penetration so should be fine.
Yes, it's much better this time around!

It should be in pretty good shape yes, of course though we will be watching very closely after release as it is a completely different scenario having lots of people using it so I'm expecting bugs to appear like with any product but we'll be in good shape to release updates quicker than before. Yes it does support IPv6 and we're working hard to ensure other features work well with it. From our tests this has been resolved.

If people want to discuss AX/WiFi 6 etc please so do in another topic as it's going off topic here.

1) Since the R2 will come with DumaOS 3.0, can we assume that the OS will be in great shape by then? Or will the R2 customers be part of the then ongoing DumaOS 3.0 Beta.
2) Does the R2 have full IPv6 support? Refering to the issues from the IPv6 support tickets from the last few month.

Imagine fully maxing out your up- and download yet your ping only spikes by 5 milliseconds, thats what Iain pulled off in the lab. It wouldnt matter at all whats happening in your network, your ping would always be spot on. Iain posted the results on his blog a few years ago, its several pages long with lots of test results and graphs (including benchmarks against unnamed industry leading routers). Maybe that blog is still up.
Yes pretty much.
Iain said the router would analyze how the ping to the server is fluctuating and then add a variable delay on the fly to it to keep the ping stable. Say you set this feature to +8 milliseconds, your router would then just add an artificial 8 milliseconds delay on top of your normal ping/connection and remove a chunk from it each time the actual ping to the server would rise. A stable but slightly higher ping will give a better game experience than a lower but unstable one.
And yes it may not work with high jitter connections but low to medium jitter connections could be balanced out perfectly assuming you set the artifical ping increase high enough.
using Anti-Jitter and Anti-Spike at the same time could be huge! But who knows if its still a thing, last message was like 2 years ago in which a Netduma employee said its still worked on.

What are the chances Anti-Spike and Anti-Jitter are part of the 4 unveiled features? Iain must have been working on those for like 5 years now, and the lab results he showed lots of years ago where quite promising already.

With each subsystem we will come to you for feedback before we start development. This gives you the opportunity to put forth your ideas and potentially have them included in the new subsystem.
For each new subsystem we will:
Have a round one thread for general feature request open for 1 day. This will give you the opportunity to give your ideas for each subsystem. If you think a persons idea is good make sure to click 'Like' so we can assess demand. Have a round two thread where we will collect the ideas and ask specific details about them. After that development will commence. Please do not complain about the subsystem. We are doing it in order of what is best for development not what is most appealing. Please keep in mind we may use all/some/none of your ideas in the final product.
