Kevomeister011 got a reaction from Zippy in R3 is the bottleneck
I never said I was satisfied at all. I think people fail to realize that there are a lot of bugs to work out of software running on any hardware. It’s not exactly an easy fix sometimes. I knew that it wasn’t going to be the greatest thing ever when I bought it. The software is brand new. It’s a complete overhaul of their previous ones. There are going to be issues. People just don’t have any patience these days.
Then you get admins on here saying an update is on the way. Doesn’t come out cause they found another bug with it. People start complaining. It’s ridiculous. Would you rather they just launch an update to launch an update?
I think the OP was taken a little out of context. I wasn’t poopyting on the device. I was posting on here to say “Hey, my poopy is doing this , and I think it’s this causing it”. Just wanted to inform. Maybe other people see the post and say “Hey mines doing the same poopy.” Then maybe it’s relayed to the team and they can look into it.
I’ve never once owned a piece of tech that was flawless.

I’ve owned an XR500, 700, 1000 and also a Netduma R1, 2 and also now the 3. I have always found the Netduma’s own routers run much more smoothly as opposed to Netgear. However this is my opinion only. I’ve found the whole Netduma team to be very honest and always helpful, and go above and beyond to help their customers. They even remote assist over the internet to help users where other companies will charge you crazy fees. They did this for me personally when I was having issues with my R2. They’re also still providing firmware for the Netduma 1 and 2 which they could be well within their right to say hey we no longer support this upgrade to the R3 yet they don’t.
in regards to the firmware updates, they come out much quicker on Netduma routers compared to netgear. I was always frustrated with Netgear and how long they took to release firmware updates. Hence why recently Netgear Pro gaming is closing at the end of this month. I have other routers in my house and in my experience gaming has never been better on PC or Console than what it has been with the Netduma R3.
Even with the current bugs included, new firmware will come out soon and I have no doubt it will addresses a lot of the bugs. I personally would rather wait for quality updates rather than smaller little updates regularly but once again this is my opinion only. Poor form bagging the forum too I check it regularly and always see Netduma staff and fellow forum members helping out others which you don’t really see in other forums.

Every new OS has its flaws. I don't think windows 10 was even stable until maybe a year after launch - and that was with user participation helping test and report issues. This isn't just a router that takes in internet and routes it through ethernet and wifi. If it were then I'm sure it would be easy for the team to just debug and give out security updates. As this is an enhanced piece of software with a multitude of features (that all have dependencies) it's a little more complex than that. That being said I have every feature enabled on my R3 including IPv6 on Wan/Lan, smartboost, steady-ping, etc. and it has been stable for days so far (as long as I keep it cooled on top of an old laptop pad). I have disabled WiFi due to having a larger home and land but I have 2 big TP-Link AX11000's in AP mode for coverage. Honestly, I think the CPU bug is overheating the unit and giving users issues. That being said I'm sure there are other smaller issues that they've found (as I'm not a dev) and instead of continuously hot fixing updates they've gone for just a later, larger update. Which is fine with me. On another note it would be nice maybe for "geeky" users to have maybe a nightly build of the firmware to test. It wouldn't be difficult to upload a file after compiling code for the day.

I’ve been a fan of what the people at Netduma started back with the R1. The GT does prioritize gaming traffic, but that part is built into the QoS. You can’t set device prioritizations. Other then that it’s an excellent piece of hardware. I’ve always loved the geo-filter the most with DumaOS. There’s a lot of “gaming” routers out there that have all these flashy words and this and that. What it really comes down to is the software. DumaOS is hands down the best router software for gaming. The CC and Geo-filter alone are more then what you get with any other router out there.
I’ve always bought different routers to try out. It’s somewhat of a hobby to mess around with my internet setup.
I’m more than confident the R3 will receive updates and it’ll be running smoothly. Might take a few firmwares to get there but it’ll be all good one day. It’s not a paperweight to me. Even though I’m having issues with it I’m still using it and trying out different settings/setups.
The product just launched like a month ago. Give it some time and it’ll be way better!

I've had the R3 ever since it launched. Love the software....when it works. Ran great up until I installed the .23 firmware. I get constant packet loss on Xbox. I've changed all settings imaginable. IPV6 on/off(lan and wan), adblocker on/off, steady ping or no steady ping, DMZ, port forwarding, device prioritized or not, the list goes on. I've changed out my switch and ethernet cables. Changed to all LAN ports available on the R3. Nothing gets rid of the packet loss...unless I just take the the R3 out of the equation. As soon as I hook up my ASUS GT-AX6000 all packet loss issues go away.
Another odd thing I've noticed with the IPV6 on R3 is my devices never receive an IPV6 address. Not sure what the issue is there. I've seen on here that the next update is supposed to eliminate the CPU issues so maybe these issues are resolved then. I might try and hook up the Asus for the wifi since its radios are better. Maybe it'll eliminate some strain on the R3 as well.
Why is CC limited to 50%? I don't ever remember the R1 limiting that feature.

Looking forward to it! Hopefully it resolves some major issues so the team can start focusing on other features and improvements.

It very likely is that, we have seen the ping is higher/more unstable with it, that will come next week along with other fixes so should be a much smoother experience then
