I'm not tech savvy so don't run out of breath laughing. I'm having a drop in speed. I found it Saturday. What's got me puzzled is I'm losing the most in download speeds. The upload drop is bad enough, and I figured on losing something anyway from first going through a router to my Netduma and then to my console, but not that much. I'm on Xbox Live and it has it's own fair share of serious issues. Would bridge mode help me on my issue? I don't really understand bridging, and my NetDuma is in a DMZ now. I show an open NAT, but I did it anyhow to see if it made any change, thanks!

Are you using the speed test on the Xbox to measure the speeds? Cause if you are that isn't too accurate and might be why they are looking less than they really are.

Could you see what the speeds are without the Netduma? Finally, what speeds do you get through a wired PC? :)

I checked them hardwired on my laptop straight out of the wall. I tried 5 different speed tests. Peculiar enough my ISP's showed the best results with my DL at 94.1m and my UL at 90.2m.

In that test it was opposite.

On speedtest.net I showed a DL of 19.49m and an UL of 55.9m!

On another AT&T's I showed a DL of 20.2m and a UL of 23.5

On Xfinity's I showed a DL of 21.20m and an UL of 49.75m

Finally, on another test I showed a DL of 27.24m and an UL of 31.10m.

I think this is the same rabbit I've been chasing ever since I switched to fiber optics. When I was on DSL it seemed a lot more consistent, but I was running through a really old modem and then through an N300 Linksys router.

I have the IP of the NetDuma reserved in the NetGear, I have UPnP enabled in both routers. I have no NAT problems at all that I can tell. I have my MTU set at 1472. I've used the NetDuma on reactive and preemptive. The latter seems to work better. I have my bandwidth set at 100m in the Duma. QOS is not enabled in the NetGear, because it doesn't affect the download only the upstream side.

My basic settings in the NetGear has me getting my IP from my ISP dynamically.

In the console, I have a static IP, and the primary DNS is the NetDuma router IP, but there is no secondary DNS IP.

I've never taken a networking class, but I know there's something not set right or I've missed something entirely.

Can you check you've done everything here - most importantly, disabled IPv6 :)

Okay, I went through the checklist on the link you provided. The only thing I changed was my bandwidth. Plus, I changed it from Preemtive to reactive.I'll give it a go when I get a chance. I think a part of my problem is the Net Gear router. I want to keep separate networks, because it's been working out. I just think my NetGear is junk. I've been reading up on my router, and nobody has much good to say about it. I think I'm trying to make it do things it's just not good for. I'm thinking about purchasing a TP-Link router, because I can control the bandwidth in both directions more precisely with the one I picked out.

If you followed everything from that wiki post you should get your full speeds. So have you got other devices connected through the Netgear then and not all going through the R1 as that means you won't get the benefit of the congestion control/it won't work properly if all devices aren't going through the R1. Can you describe your setup, for example Netgear (PC + mobile connected) > R1 (xbox connected)

Sorry to take so long to get back. Been big time busy!

From the wall:

Straight to NetGear router

Then to the NetDuma

From the Duma to the console.

The NetGear does not have upload and download bandwidth control. As far as I can tell it is upload only.

The setup is pretty simple, so that's why I keep thinking there's something I need to setup or change. My plan is to purchase a TP-Link router, because it offers hardware and software NAT, plus it also offers upload and download IP QOS. With the way their UI is set up I can actually see what i'm controlling. However, when I get a chance this weekend I'm going to remove the NetGear and run some experiments with the Duma running solo.

Okay that set up looks fine, I wouldn't advise using TP-link QOS and the R1 congestion control really. I can do a 1 on 1 and see about fixing your speeds :)
